The House is grappling with yet another fight between a far-right Republican and a member of the progressive “squad” — this time Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

The war of words between the two lawmakers escalated on Monday when they clashed in a heated phone call over Islamophobic remarks Boebert made suggesting Omar could be a terrorist.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) issued an apology on Friday for remarks she made that used anti-Muslim tropes to refer to Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democratic representative from Minnesota and one of only three Muslim members of Congress.

Later on Friday, Omar sent a tweet calling for House leadership to take "appropriate action."

Omar added that "normalizing this bigotry not only endangers my life but the lives of all Muslims."

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., apologized Friday after video emerged of her suggesting that fellow Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., was mistaken for a terrorist in an elevator both were riding in the U.S. Capitol.

Omar, who is Muslim and wears a hijab, immediately criticized the video Thursday as "bigotry," adding that Boebert's description of the two members of Congress riding an elevator together never occurred.

Rep. Ilhan Omar's latest remarks about Israel and Jewish members of Congress have sparked backlash, as the Minnesota Democrat expressed zero regret for comparing Israel to Hamas and the Taliban.

Another headache-inducing controversy featuring Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) appears to be winding down, with paralyzed Democratic leadership handing Omar yet another victory.  Last time the House caucus was gripped with recriminations over an Omar outburst -- in that case, it involved anti-Semitism -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi's plan to rebuke the Squad member unraveled when the hard left loudly defended the backbencher.  A resolution to condemn anti-Semitism was embarrassingly watered down into a meaningless and weak "all bigotry matters" statement.

As sure as the sun rises in the morning, the American political elite will periodically come together across warring party lines to disparage, slander, and otherwise malign Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

On Monday, Omar posted on Twitter her exchange with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. There she raised what should be a fairly tame question: What mechanisms exist to investigate war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine and Afghanistan?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other House Democratic leaders condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for a statement she issued Thursday morning “clarifying” a tweet Omar posted equating the United States and Israel to the terrorist regimes, Hamas and the Taliban — sidestepping calls to address Omar’s shocking language.
