Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford acknowledged that "it sure feels like" he has football left in him, but the 16-year veteran and one-time Super Bowl winner wasn't ready to commit himself to 2025. Stafford threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns in snowy Philadelphia and had a comeback attempt fall just short in a 28-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in a divisional round playoff game on on Sunday. The Rams reached the Philadelphia 13-yard line in the final minute before the drive stalled. "As far as my future...

Elina Svitolina delivered a stunning first-set comeback before overwhelming Veronika Kudermetova to reach the Australian Open quarterfinals on Monday, but the Ukrainian did not shake hands with her Russian opponent.

Svitolina, the No. 28 seed, followed up her shock win over world No. 4 Jasmine Paolini in the third round with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over the world No. 75 at Rod Laver Arena.

It put her into the quarterfinals at Melbourne Park for the third time, but for the first time since 2019.

The U.S. secretary of state and the foreign ministers of Australia, India and Japan are expected to meet in Washington on Tuesday, the day after President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, people familiar with the matter said. Experts said the meeting, the first major diplomatic event of the Trump presidency, would send a strong signal of continuity for the "Quad," a grouping formed amid shared concerns about China's growing power. Trump will be sworn in for a second term on Monday, and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong...

Two of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL — and the leading contenders for the league's MVP award — will go head-to-head in the playoffs when the Buffalo Bills host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who could receive his third MVP award, faces the Bills' Josh Allen in a divisional round clash with a place in the AFC championship game at stake. Both players epitomize the modern preference for quarterbacks who can not only throw with pinpoint accuracy but can also be a threat running...

Los Angeles officials told most wildfire evacuees on Thursday to stay away from their homes for at least another week as emergency responders remove toxic waste from incinerated neighborhoods and cut off electricity and gas lines posing a hazard amid the ruins. Landslides further endangered the devastated hillsides, where leveled structures no longer hold earth in place and water from fire hoses and broken pipes has saturated the ground, adding more stress and heartache to people suffering the worst natural disaster in Los Angeles history. With wildfires burning for a...

Before Maria Corina Machado was arrested by Nicolas Maduro’s regime in Venezuela Thursday, her reemergence in public offered a powerful reminder of the opposition campaign she led this past summer. Her supporters handed her rosaries and shouted chants of "liberty” as she climbed to the top of a truck at an anti-Maduro rally and waved the nation’s flag. It had been more than four months since Machado went into hiding following Maduro’s contested win in the July 28 election. Minutes later, there was a harsh snap back to reality when...

The United States has withheld a dues payment of $3.6 million to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for not conducting an independent audit of operations, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) said Wednesday.

USADA Chief Executive Officer Travis T. Tygart said his group "fully supports this decision" by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy "as the only right choice to protect athletes' rights, accountability and fair competition."

WADA said that the U.S. government owes a total of $3.625 million, with WADA's overall 2025 operating budget at $57.5 million.
