It was the darkest day the earth had ever seen.

Literally.

At noon, when the sun should have been at its highest, the sky went black. Not clouded. Not stormy. Black. Like the heavens themselves turned their back on what was happening at Skull Hill.

Colin Smith’s *Heaven, How I Got Here* ends where history paused—between two worlds.

One man—the thief—is no longer with us. Neither is the Man on the middle cross. Their lifeless bodies hung in silence as the crowds shuffled home, bloodstained and stunned.

Comedian John Mulaney roasts Biloxi in a new Netflix show filmed in part when he played the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in December. He wasn’t impressed with the city — or the casinos. And he and David Letterman, who was in the audience for the Dec. 8 show, apparently didn’t spend enough time in the city to learn how to pronounce Biloxi. Mulaney is a stand-up comedian and actor who spent four seasons writing for Saturday Night Live. Letterman interviewed him for his Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction”...

Between 200 and 250 people, including parents and their children, turned out on Saturday, May 4, for a “Love Fest” Drag Story Hour brunch hosted by the Arlington, Va., LGBTQ establishment Freddie’s Beach Bar and Restaurant. Local drag performer Tara Hoot, who read children’s stories and handed out coloring books to the kids attending the event, was joined by members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, which sang several songs before Hoot began reading from children’s books in keeping with the tradition of drag queens conducting Drag Story Hour...

PHOENIX — A guilty plea by the leader of an offshoot polygamous sect near the Arizona-Utah border is at risk of being thrown out due to an unmet condition of his deal that hinged on whether others charged in the case also would plead guilty. Under the terms of Samuel Bateman’s deal, prosecutors can — but aren’t required to — withdraw his guilty plea, after two other men charged in the case rejected plea offers and are now headed to trial. Bateman, a self-proclaimed prophet who took more than 20...

Misty Grace of Green Bay, Wis., center, who describes herself as a follower of Jesus Christ, prays during a rally for former President Donald Trump at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, Wis., on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Misty Grace came for spiritual revival. As the music blared above, Grace raised both hands in the air, one palm open. The other clutched a small, wooden cross. She bowed her head and swayed side to side. “I was led by the Holy Spirit to come here,” she told me. “I...

CNN’s Don Lemon, who grew up Baptist and attended a Catholic school, wrongly claimed this week that Jesus “admittedly was not perfect” when He was on earth.

“Here’s the thing,” Lemon told fellow CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who is Catholic. “Jesus Christ — if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ — admittedly was not perfect when He was here on this earth.”

Cuomo, despite his own religious beliefs, nodded along approvingly.

A leader for the Black Lives Matter movement said Wednesday he believes Jesus “is the most famous black radical revolutionary” during the same interview in which he said wants “black sovereignty by any means necessary.”

Hawk Newsome, head of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum he wants to “burn down the system” if the country “doesn’t give us what we want.”

Left-wing activist Shaun King called Monday for the removal of statues, murals and stained glass windows that depict Jesus as a “white European,” which he claimed “are a form of white supremacy.”

“Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down,” King, a former surrogate on Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’s 2020 presidential campaign, wrote on Twitter. “They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been.”

As the world prepares to celebrate Jesus' birth, one author is inspiring us to look deeper and more introspectively at the Christmas story.

Daniel Darling, author of "The Characters of Christmas: The Unlikely People Caught Up in the Story of Jesus" recently told "The Pure Flix Podcast" why he finds the story of Jesus' birth so incredible.
