Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of murder charges in Kenosha one year ago, but that hasn’t kept him from being called a murderer on social media.

The former Antioch resident has vowed to sue celebrities and media figures who have used such language to describe him, but his attorney, Todd McMurtry, told the Tribune a larger goal is to change the discourse about Rittenhouse.

Kyle Rittenhouse, the teen who shot dead two men and injured another during anti-racism protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 2020, has announced the formation of a group to fund lawsuits against reporters – and also Whoopi Goldberg.

In November, after a controversial trial, Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all charges related to the shootings, which he carried out with an assault rifle while purportedly providing security in the protest-racked city.

He has since emerged as a rightwing celebrity. He spoke to Tucker Carlson on Fox News on Monday night.

Kyle Rittenhouse vowed Monday to hold media organizations and public figures accountable for repeatedly calling him a ā€œwhite supremacistā€ and a ā€œmurderer.ā€

Rittenhouse announced his team is launching ā€œThe Media Accountability Projectā€ to fundraise and bring forth legal action toward media organizations that have reported ā€œliesā€ and inaccurate information.

The 18-year-old was acquitted on Nov. 19, 2021, for fatally shooting Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and injuring Gaige Grosskreutz with an AR-15-style rifle in August, 2020.

Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old who was found not guilty following the deadly shooting during the 2020 Kenosha riots, is launching a new initiative to combat powerful news organizations for the "lies" they spew.

"Me and my team have decided to launch The Media Accountability Project as a tool to help fundraise and hold the media accountable for the lies they said and deal with them in court," Rittenhouse said on Monday's "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

The GOP has a new superstar and his name is Kyle Rittenhouse.

On Monday night in Phoenix, Rittenhouse appeared at AmericaFest, a conference organized by the MAGA-friendly youth group Turning Point USA.

In the audience, thousands of high school and college-age students screamed and cheered, chanting ā€œKyle.ā€ Then, the sound system kicked in, playing a song that repeated Rittenhouse’s name. Fireworks exploded.

A few weeks after the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, Michelle Garra signed up to volunteer with Court Watch PG, a Maryland-based organization that trains people to monitor trials to keep judges and prosecutors accountable.

Following the proceedings closely, Garra was particularly disturbed by how the judge operated, she said.

"It was surreal watching the judge coddle him like that. I've been in court, and they don't treat people like that," she said.

TheBlaze host Glenn Beck asked Kyle Rittenhouse on Wednesday whether he was going to ā€œsue the crapā€ out of the media for defaming him during his ordeal and Rittenhouse replied that his attorneys were going to go after Lin Wood and John Pierce first.

The teen claims that his former attorneys, Wood and Pierce, lied and took advantage of him during his trial. His attorneys are focusing on them first for restitution.

Many socialists believe that education is a universal human right. But evidently, not Arizona State University's (ASU) Students for Socialism. On Wednesday, they staged a protest to pressure campus administrators to expel Kyle Rittenhouse, the recently acquitted Kenosha shooter.

"Join us and rally against racist murderer Kyle Rittenhouse being permitted on our campus," said the student group on Twitter.

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has reversed its policy banning searches for "Kyle Rittenhouse" on its apps following his acquittal last month.

A Kenosha, Wisconsin, jury on Nov. 19 found Rittenhouse not guilty on all counts after his defense team argued that he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot two people and injured a third during Kenosha riots in August 2020, following the police shooting of a 29-year-old Black man, Jacob Blake.
