As the Trump administration intensifies its battle with elite universities, one Ivy League school is lawyering up with a Trump ally.

Republicans in Washington have waged a war against the American Bar Association, the nation’s largest association of legal workers, amid the organization putting out a sweeping and defiant statement criticizing the Trump administration‘s actions.

On Thursday, President Trump issued an executive order that cut federal ties with the Spygate incubator and major Democrat law firm Perkins Coie. The president did so based on the firm’s partisan dishonesty, and because it openly discriminates based on sex and race.

Attacks on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility programs (widely referred to as DEIA) have been a central theme in the early days of the second Trump administration, including in a shameful and fact-free rant blaming a deadly plane crash on DEIA initiatives. But while the DEIA acronym appears in many recent executive orders and memoranda, they don’t offer a definition of the term. Maybe the vagueness is intentional, or maybe the people demonizing the term don’t actually understand it. Either way, the result has been widespread confusion.

Anti-Trump federal government lawyers are being begged to “ride it out” in the new administration, with activists encouraging them to act as a bulwark against the incoming president’s policies and actions.

Those who feel they cannot remain on the inside, meanwhile, are being urged to look for jobs in Democrat-led state governments where they can find other perches to battle against Mr. Trump.
