Leonard, the hero of Christopher Nolan’s Memento, cannot form new memories. This poses something of a problem when you’re trying to find the guy who killed your wife. Her brutal murder is the last thing Leonard remembers, and he has been hunting for the perpetrator ever since. To survive in the present, he has a stack of Polaroids that he uses to identify friends and a carpeting of tattoos on his body, including the words JOHN G RAPED AND MURDERED MY WIFE draped across his collarbones. This is written backwards, so that he can read it every time he looks in the mirror.

Saturday marks the fourth anniversary of the death of George Floyd on a Minneapolis street.

The years in between haven’t been kind to the city, thanks in large part to the anti-police policies his death sparked.

But there’s hope.

Floyd’s death on May 25, 2020, triggered four days of rioting centered on Lake Street, a commercial thoroughfare two miles south of downtown.

The western end of the street is, or was, the heart of Uptown, an entertainment and dining district. It becomes more urban as it stretches to the east.

Former President Donald Trump told supporters at a Minnesota GOP dinner on Friday night that he is going to win the state and expand “the electoral map.”

No Republican candidate has won Minnesota since 1972. Trump lost the state in 2016 by just 1.5% and 7.1% in 2020 but claimed at the dinner that he won the state in both years.

His return to the state comes after he declared he would never return if he lost it in 2020.

“I’m here tonight to declare that we’re officially expanding the
 electoral map,” Trump said.

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football got a verbal commitment from Kent State defensive tackle CJ West on Wednesday morning. he 6-foot-2, 315-pounder was one of the most highly coveted players at his position remaining in the portal with Wisconsin, Michigan, LSU and Florida State among the schools that had targeted him. The Hoosiers came out of spring practice with very little depth or experience at the position behind JMU transfer James Carpenter and returning tackle Marcus Burris Jr. West, who announced his decision on social media, solidifies the team's two-deep alongside...

Couple and a dog killed after mobile home explosion leaves 'large debris field' in Minnesota Two people and a dog were killed when a mobile home exploded in Minnesota on Tuesday. The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office, in a post on social media, said it received multiple calls reporting a "possible explosion" in Princeton, a community about 50 miles north of Minneapolis. The sound of the explosion was heard miles away, authorities said. Deputies arrived at the scene to find "a large debris field from an apparent explosion which was...

SAN ANTONIO – A University of Texas at San Antonio starting forward has committed to play basketball for the Big 10â€Čs Minnesota Golden Gophers. Trey Edmonds, a 6-foot-10-inch 255-pound junior who started 32 games for the Roadrunners last year, made his decision official after entering the transfer portal. “I’m excited about adding Trey to our program,” Minnesota head coach Ben Johnson said. “Trey’s a first-class young man from a great family. We got to see firsthand the type of player Trey is, his best basketball is ahead of him and...

Wisconsin elementary school teacher Madison Bergmann, who was arrested for allegedly “making out” with a fifth-grader just months before her wedding, allegedly moved the victim’s desk next to hers so they could physically touch during class without eliciting suspicious gazes from other students. “My daughter thought he was a problem kid,” another student’s mom told the New York Post. “She said that his desk got moved next to [Bergmann’s] a couple of months ago, and she just assumed that he was in trouble. “When it was time for lunch, she’d...

[Editor's note: This story originally was published by The Daily Signal.] Wisconsin is one of the most fiercely contested battleground states in this election cycle, but it lacks federal transparency requirements for voter registration imposed on most states, according to a lawsuit by an election watchdog. Minnesota, generally a solidly blue state although it saw a razor-thin margin in the results of the 2016 presidential race, also doesn’t make its voter rolls available to the public, the lawsuit contends.

To make a lot of money right out of college in Minnesota, consider an engineering degree, which lands the typical grad a salary of $70,500 a year after commencement. Why it matters: As thousands of students in Minnesota colleges and universities graduate this month, some will quickly find high-paying jobs while others will struggle financially. Driving the news: It's easy for Minnesota students to find out what their degree might mean for their future salary and job prospects, thanks to a recently updated state Graduate Employment Outcomes (GEO) tool. By...
