Nissan's Canton, Mississippi manufacturing facility could be at the forefront of a new American plan to take advantage of whatever tariffs come down from President Donald Trump. The Mississippi Economic Council annual meeting Thursday, April 17 could, very well, be the last annual meeting for the organization, at least under that name. The MEC, the state chamber of commerce, has been the self-proclaimed voice of Mississippi business since 1949. MEC deals with broad issues that relate to businesses through advocacy, research, resources and leadership.

A weather front is expected to move into Mississippi and with it comes the threats of damaging winds and large hail and a tornado can't be ruled out. "We're expecting a cold front to move into the area bringing increased potential for thunderstorms late Sunday and Sunday night," said Eric Carpenter, senior meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jackson.
