Nissan's Canton, Mississippi manufacturing facility could be at the forefront of a new American plan to take advantage of whatever tariffs come down from President Donald Trump. Last week at the New York Auto Show, Vinay Shahani, Nissan USA's head of sales and marketing, went out of his way to hold up the Madison County, Mississippi plant as an example of where a new American strategy could begin. "We have an opportunity, I think, with this tariff thing," Shahani said in an interview with Motor1at the New York Auto Show....

The Mississippi Economic Council annual meeting Thursday, April 17 could, very well, be the last annual meeting for the organization, at least under that name. The MEC, the state chamber of commerce, has been the self-proclaimed voice of Mississippi business since 1949. MEC deals with broad issues that relate to businesses through advocacy, research, resources and leadership.

A weather front is expected to move into Mississippi and with it comes the threats of damaging winds and large hail and a tornado can't be ruled out. "We're expecting a cold front to move into the area bringing increased potential for thunderstorms late Sunday and Sunday night," said Eric Carpenter, senior meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jackson.
