MSNBC pulled its flagship AM program "Morning Joe" from airing on Monday in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Viewers who tuned in expecting to see the staunchly anti-Trump program, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, were greeted instead by continued NBC News special reporting on the attempt on Trump's life on Saturday. A spokesperson said "Morning Joe" will resume airing on Tuesday.

MSNBC denied CNN’s reporting that Morning Joe was pulled in response to Trump’s assassination attempt after the network instead aired special report coverage via its streaming service, NBC News Now.

The normal show, which features several panelists, is routinely critical of the former president, but the show posted on X that it would return on Tuesday. The report from rival CNN alleged the network pulled the show Monday due to concerns about an inappropriate comment about the assassination attempt by one of the guests on the show.

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki called on the Republican National Committee to overhaul its planned programming for the upcoming convention to avoid ā€œescalatingā€ the country’s rhetoric following the failed assassination attempt against former President Trump.

In an appearance on ā€œMeet the Pressā€ Sunday, Psaki described feeling ā€œscaredā€ in the aftermath of the attempt on former President Trump’s life, echoing other panelists who called for the country to dial down the divisive political rhetoric.

The president called in to his favorite morning cable news show Monday, bragging about his campaign crowd sizes and daring disgruntled ā€œelitesā€ in his own party to challenge him publicly.

Yes, we’re talking about Joe Biden.

The 81-year-old took a page from Republican rival Donald Trump’s playbook when he spoke on the phone to MSNBC’s ā€œMorning Joeā€ in a bid to head off moves by Capitol Hill Democrats to force him out of the 2024 White House race.

You'd have to be some sort of hick from the sticks to take a Hunter Biden criminal conviction into account in deciding on your 2024 presidential vote.

That was Molly Jong-Fast's gist on today's Way Too Early, the Morning Joe pregame show. When host Jonathan Lemire asked the MSNBC political analyst whether there could be a negative political impact for Joe Biden stemming from a Hunter conviction, she suggested only hayseeds who can't make fine moral distinctions could be misled:

Zeteo editor-in-chief and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan laid into former Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Jonathan Conricus during a heated CNN debate on Israel’s bombing of Rafah, Monday. After Conricus accused Hassan during the debate of ā€œparroting Hamas talking points,ā€ Hasan protested: I think all of your viewers saw me quote the spokesperson for the Israeli hostages’ families, and the colonel then said I’m parroting Hamas talking points. He’s referring to the hostages’ families as Hamas, as parroting Hamas talking points, because I quoted them. I didn’t quote Hamas....

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accused MSNBC’s Katy Tur of being an ā€œapologistā€ for former President Trump on Monday.

During an appearance on the network, Pelosi touted President Biden’s record on the economy, saying, he ā€œcreated 9 million jobs in his term in office. Donald Trump has the worst record of job loss of any president. So we just have to make sure people know.ā€

Tur briefly interjected, telling Pelosi ā€œthere was a global pandemicā€ during Trump’s presidency.

Among those who will come forward to speak truthfully as witnesses for the prosecution in Donald Trump's criminal hush money trial, his Hope Hicks is perhaps most intriguing and also seasoned. Former litigator and MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin laid out a litany of insights into one of former President Donald Trump's most trusted confidantes and battle-tested loyalists. For Rubin, she has no doubts Hicks will be truthful and savvy under questioning. "Some have asked me whether Hope Hicks will testify truthfully if called as a witness in the Manhattan...
