ST. PAUL, Minn. — One more for a perfect ten. Tristan Broz scored with 8:51 remaining in overtime to help the University of Denver shrug off a slow start and defeat Boston University, 2-1 in the first semifinal of the 2024 NCAA Frozen Four at Xcel Energy Center. The Pioneers will play Saturday against the winner of Boston College or Michigan in the championship game with a chance to claim an NCAA-best 10th title. Broz snapped a wrist shot along the ice on a 3-on-2 rush to set off the...

The Heisman Trophy X account took a beating on Thursday when it issued a memorial for the passing of former trophy recipient OJ Simpson while making no mention of the victims he had been accused (and acquitted) of murdering before being held liable for their deaths in a civil trial. Sharing a photo of Simpson during his prime years as a star running back at USC, the Heisman Trophy account said, “The Heisman Trophy Trust mourns the passing of 1968 Heisman Trophy Winner OJ Simpson. We extend our sympathy to...

To get to OT, the Terriers had to survive four penalty kills — without a power play — and started extras with 47 seconds left on a Dylan Peterson boarding minor. ST. PAUL, Minn. — Tristan Broz scored at 11:09 of overtime to lift Denver over Boston University, 2-1, in the NCAA men’s hockey semifinals Thursday at Xcel Energy Center. BU (28-9-3), the second overall seed in the tournament, dominated for most of the first half of the game, opening the scoring on a shorthanded breakaway strike from senior Luke...

A recent report reveals that two-thirds of colleges and universities across the United States now require students to complete coursework focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in order to graduate, the New York Post reported. The report, conducted by Speech First, an organization advocating for First Amendment rights on college campuses, surveyed both public and private institutions and found that 165 out of 248 schools mandate DEI-related classes as part of their general education requirements.

1. Falmouth: Pegged as the team to beat in Class A South, the Navigators have a returning Varsity Maine All-State battery in pitcher Brennan Rumpf and catcher Ethan Hendry, both four-year starters. Falmouth’s other top players are still relatively young. Junior Josh Polchies will play short and Coach Mike D’Andrea called him a “top hitter in Maine,” and a “D1 player.” Polchies and junior Tyler Simmons will be key pitchers, as will powerful sophomore first baseman Jacoby Porter. Falmouth ran off 15 straight wins in a 16-2 season that ended...

Nearly 19 million people watched on as Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks bested the Iowa Hawkeyes in the women’s NCAA championship game on Sunday afternoon. Not a stranger to making sports history, Staley became the first Black coach to have an undefeated season in the NCAA Division 1 and the only Black coach to win three national titles. As I was doing squats, rows, leg lifts with the game on in the background, I mentally transported back to my childhood when promotion for the WNBA was heavy. I...

In 2023, all three finalists hailed from the Big Ten, with Michigan’s Adam Fantilli claiming the prize over the Minnesota duo of Logan Cooley and Matthew Knies . The idea that there could be three finalists from Hockey East in 2024 was not far-fetched, as BU sophomore Lane Hutson — arguably the best defenseman in the country — and BC freshman Will Smith were top-10 finalists . The answer turned out to be two, with Boston College sophomore Cutter Gauthier and Boston University freshman Macklin Celebrini joined by Jackson Blake...

After a season with zero wins and the departure of 12 players, the University of Oregon women’s soccer team is in turmoil. Several Ducks who either graduated or transferred out of the program in recent years lay the blame squarely at the feet of head coach Graeme Abel, who they say left them feeling shamed, demeaned and verbally abused. Make even a minor mistake on the field, former players told The Oregonian/OregonLive, and they came to expect a diatribe from Abel about how they weren’t good enough to play college...

Fans better be ready to throw down some serious cash if they want to see Caitlin Clark play in the Final Four. South Carolina plays NC State followed by UConn/Iowa in the women's Final Four Friday night, and it's without question the most hyped women's Final Four in the history of the sport. The buzz around it is truly awesome to see, and there's one main person responsible for moving the needle: Well, fans hoping to catch the action will have to shell out big money. Some fans might have...

An Alabama mayor who said he would tell Black athletes and parents to seek other colleges and universities outside of the state if lawmakers passed an anti-DEI was silent as officials did just that.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment from Fox News Digital on Wednesday as Gov. Kay Ivey signed legislation that banned diversity, equity and inclusion programs at public schools, universities and state agencies.
