Kyle Waters will see some familiar faces among the 180,000 people who will attend a concert event at Boone Pickens Stadium this week. Some of those faces will be on stage. The back story: While attending Oklahoma State University, Waters was employed at the Wormy Dog Saloon. ā€œI worked the floor, picking up bottles and taking up trash,ā€ he said. ā€œAnd then I started bartending. That’s how I got to kind of know all the Red Dirt bands.ā€ Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed played at the Wormy Dog then....

While it might seem like the only thing marketers talk about is digital strategy, brick-and-mortar marketing is not dead. In fact, Gen Z prefers to shop in person about as much as their baby boomer grandparents. While online shopping provides convenience, in-person shopping creates an unmatched tactile, social and multisensory experience. However, brick-and-mortar marketing strategies have evolved from the days of the inflatable tube man dancing in front of a store. Marketers can now leverage data to target customers more effectively and maximize their marketing spend.

Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters and the state's Department of Education have sued the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), claiming that the organization is conducting a "blatant attack on the religious freedoms and Christians of Oklahoma students."

"We won't stand idly by while atheists try to erase faith," Walters said in a statement.

When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Walters referred Newsweek to comments he made earlier this week in a press release and social media posts.

OWASSO — Ryland Mosley was not expecting to get a skylight for graduation. A senior at Owasso High School, Mosley was in the shower in a second-story bathroom Wednesday morning before dawn. He heard a few faint beeps, which he chalked up to his house’s alarm system. ā€œI didn’t think anything of it,ā€ he said. ā€œThen about 10 seconds went by, and I just felt that massive gust of wind and a boom. I could feel the house shake, ... then I heard a giant ā€˜Bam!’ and could hear the...

If President Donald Trump's announced tariffs on auto parts actually go into effect on Wednesday, local car dealerships and stock prices of auto manufacturers will not see an immediate impact. That's in part because they already have, a University of Tulsa associate professor of economics said. Meanwhile, the president of a state organization representing new car dealers said extended tariffs could be detrimental for both consumers and dealers. "There is concern that tariffs could put vehicles out of reach for consumers," said Peter Hodges Sr., president of the Oklahoma Automobile...

OKLAHOMA CITY — So called ā€œbell-to-bell no cellā€ legislation seems likely to pass into state law this year, as both the House and the Senate have supported bills that propose to keep phones out of the hands of students while they’re at school. As the 2025 legislative session reached its midway point last week, leaders of the Republican-dominated House and Senate commented on progress made so far and their priorities going forward, including passage of measures intended to improve education. During weekly meetings held with reporters, House Speaker Kyle Hilbert,...

DETROIT — President Donald Trump's 25% tax on imported cars, light trucks and auto parts is likely to drive up prices at a time when many Americans already struggle to afford a new set of wheels. The tariffs will also force car companies to rethink what cars they make and where they make them. Trump has been itching to tax foreign autos for years. In his first term, he declared auto imports a threat to national security, which gave him the authority to impose tariffs on them. On Wednesday, he...
