The Biden administration pledged $1 billion for a new rail connection between Richmond, Va., and Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday, as part of public transit grants from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. ā€œGreat news!ā€ Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) celebrated. ā€œThis project is a big win for economic development in the region and I want to thank Secretary Buttigieg for recognizing its importance.ā€ The S-Line R2R project shortcuts existing passenger rail service, using an out-of-service freight corridor to create a direct connection between Raleigh and Richmond.

A former Democrat Maryland mayor who described Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg as his ā€œmentorā€ was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday for possessing and distributing child sex abuse material. Patrick Wojahn was the mayor of College Park and a popular leftist politician until he resigned in March, the day before his arrest on child pornography charges. College Park is just outside Washington, D.C., and home to the state’s flagship University of Maryland campus. Wojahn, 48, pled guilty in August to 140 counts related to possessing and distributing child...

The man who once called Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg his mentor is going away for a long time. Patrick Wojahn, who was formerly the mayor of College Park, Maryland, was arrested by police in March and charged with dozens of child pornography-related offenses. The Baltimore Banner reports that after agreeing to accept a plea deal for 140 separate charges of both possession and distribution of child pornography, Wojahn was sentenced to 30 years in prison plus five years probation. He will also have to register as a sex offender...

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Millions of dollars will be put into a rail facility in Central Nebraska due to a federal grant. On the heels of that announcement in Grand Island Monday, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg came to Lincoln Tuesday to talk more about the $15.2 million Cornhusker Railroad Regional Connectivity Project and what’s being done to make railroads safer. The investment in Nebraska is one of 70 projects in 35 states covered by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Sec. Buttigieg said the investment will improve track related issues,...

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Sunday that President Joe Biden is heading to the picket line with auto union workers this week because he's "deeply pro-worker" — not because he's trying to get ahead of former President Donald Trump. "I think this is President Biden being who he is," Buttigieg said in an interview on NBC News' "Meet the Press," describing him as "the most unapologetically pro-worker, pro-union president we've ever had." The White House announced Friday that Biden would head to Michigan on Tuesday to meet with striking United...

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg defended President Joe Biden’s plan to join members of the United Auto Workers union next week in solidarity with their strike from Detroit's Big Three automakers. Former President Donald Trump attacked Biden after the president announced his plan to visit Michigan to talk to striking autoworkers on Tuesday, one day before Trump’s previously scheduled trip. HOW REPUBLICANS ARE EXPANDING THEIR REACH IN STATE ELECTIONS ā€œCrooked Joe Biden had no intention of going to visit the United Autoworkers, until I announced that I would be heading to...

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg rejected a claim Sunday that President Joe Biden is joining the picket line of auto workers in Michigan only because former President Donald Trump announced a visit to the state. ā€œPresident Biden is doing what he has always done, which is to stand with American workers,ā€ Buttigieg said on CNN’s ā€œState of the Union.ā€ ā€œHe is proud of being the most pro-union, pro-worker president, not only compared to the Trump administration, with its anti-union policies, but really compared to any modern president.ā€ Biden announced on Friday...
