Planned Parenthood plans to close two rural centers in Utah, a quarter of its locations in the state, after the Trump administration froze federal funds boosting the organization. The closures come after the Trump administration withheld millions in Title X funding from Planned Parenthood and other organizations on March 31. The Department of Health and Human Services said it is reviewing the funding to ensure it is not going to organizations providing services to illegal immigrants and to investigate concerns money may be flowing to entities violating civil rights laws...

A group of anti-abortion Republicans temporarily derailed business on the Texas House floor in an attempt to block a resolution honoring late President Cecile Richards. For 16 minutes on Thursday, the Republicans repeatedly implored House Speaker Dustin Burrows (R) to remove the resolution from the calendar. "Mr. Speaker, if a member is opposed to a resolution such as honoring a famed abortionist in the state of Texas on the congratulatory or memorial resolutions calendar, is there a procedure under the House rules to consider that resolution separately?" Rep. Brian Harrison...

Parents are in an uproar over a coloring book created by Planned Parenthood, which was reportedly distributed to children on a field trip at the Kentucky Science Center. The museum hosted five local schools for an event called Health and Wellness Days, with students ranging from 8 to 13 years old. Groups present included the University of Louisville, Louisville Metro EMT, Norton Pediatric Neurology, the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), and more. The museum said Planned Parenthood requested to be a vendor at the event, and was given permission...

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Wednesday on whether South Carolina residents have a right to choose Planned Parenthood as a provider through the Medicaid Act as the state tries to exclude the nation's largest abortion provider from its Medicaid program. The justices heard oral arguments in the case of Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, which deals with whether it's legal for South Carolina to ban abortion providers from Medicaid. John Bursch, senior counsel with the Alliance Defending Freedom, argued the case on behalf of South Carolina, saying...

The state argues that no one’s rights were violated when it decided to exclude Planned Parenthood from its Medicaid program. The U.S. Supreme Court in Washington on Jan. 29, 2025. The U.S. Supreme Court in Washington on Jan. 29, 2025. Madalina Vasiliu/The Epoch Times The U.S. Supreme Court on April 2 weighed whether South Carolina can stop abortion provider Planned Parenthood from taking part in the state’s Medicaid program. Medicaid is a joint federal–state program that offers health insurance coverage to low-income Americans. Although the case, known as Medina v....

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, a case that will determine whether South Carolina can cut Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood. But with clear legal precedent stating that they can’t, how did this case even end up before the Supreme Court? And, given how far the court has gone to accommodate the MAGA agenda, is the outcome of this case in doubt? Want more What Next? Planned Parenthood now sees an opening to try to protect gender-affirming care in California, similar to how the state moved to enshrine abortion rights under the first Trump administration. Several of the proposals build on shield laws and privacy protections the groups first pushed for to cover abortion providers and patients in the immediate aftermath of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022. ā€œPlain and simple, we’re protecting our patients and providers,ā€ Jodi Hicks, CEO of the group’s California advocacy group, told POLITICO. ā€œWe’re really looking at everything...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, angrily responded to President Donald Trump shutting down federal funds that went to abortions provided by Planned Parenthood. The abortion provider said in a release that nine of its affiliates were informed Monday evening that the Trump administration would temporarily withhold their Title X funding over possible violations of Trump's executive orders. 'Woke up this morning to the Trump Administration freezing ALL of CA’s Title X funding.' "Woke up this morning to the Trump Administration freezing ALL of CA’s Title X funding," he wrote....

Planned Parenthood admittedly did everything in its "power to keep Donald Trump from the White House" in the lead-up to the 2024 election. Having failed miserably, the organization — not only the single largest provider of abortions nationwide but also a top provider of sex-change services — may now lose some of its federal funding. Last week, a Department of Health and Human Services spokesman told the Wall Street Journal that the agency was considering an immediate freeze of $27.5 million in grants to Planned Parenthood. On Monday, the abortion...
