A Republican prosecutor in Arizona is refusing to extradite a man wanted for murder in New York City, claiming Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s lenient bail policies would put others at risk, only weeks after Bragg’s office faced criticism for releasing suspects accused of attacking a police officer.

Raad Almansoori, a 26-year-old suspected of murdering a woman in a Manhattan hotel room on February 8, was arrested by police in Surprise, Arizona, on Sunday after stabbing one woman in a McDonalds and another while trying to steal her car on the road.

An Arizona prosecutor is refusing to extradite a man accused of murdering a woman in a hotel in New York, blaming Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for his “treatment of violent criminals.”

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a news conference on Wednesday that her team would not be coordinating with Bragg’s to send Raad Almansoori, 26, to New York to face charges in the murder of Denisse Oleas-Arancibia, 38.

Donald Trump on Tuesday shared an image showing that poll respondents used the words “revenge” and “dictatorship” to describe what he hopes to get out of another term in the White House.

The former president, the GOP’s front-runner for the 2024 nomination, shared the image of a word cloud on his Truth Social platform without comment.

The word cloud had originally been published by the Daily Mail, which said it had polled 1,000 likely voters and asked them to describe in one word what President Joe Biden and Trump each want from a second term.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who has angered liberal Democrats with his unequivocal pro-Israel position, said he no longer considers himself a progressive and thinks people on both the far right and left are wishing he would die.

Fetterman suffered a near-fatal stroke in May 2022 during his campaign, which he previously said changed everything about his life. The senator, who was once considered a progressive champion, has long drawn criticism from Republicans for his stances. Now, he says those on both sides of the political aisle are targeting him.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) welcomed former President Donald Trump’s xenophobic comments about migrants “poisoning the blood” of the U.S. — but said he was disappointed that they didn’t go far enough.

“I’m mad he wasn’t even tougher than that,” the Trump ally told The Independent’s Eric Garcia on Tuesday. “When you see what’s happening at the border? We’re being overrun. They’re taking us over.”

Presidents seeking a second term have often found the public’s perception of the economy a pivotal issue. It was a boon to Ronald Reagan; it helped usher Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush out of the White House.

Now, as President Biden looks toward a re-election campaign, there are warning signals on that front: With overall consumer sentiment at a low ebb despite solid economic data, even Democrats who supported Mr. Biden in 2020 say they’re not impressed with the economy.

Last week we learned that the economy, far from sliding toward recession as economists had predicted over the past year, has actually picked up steam thanks to indefatigable consumers.

Not only has economic output made up all the ground lost during the pandemic, but it is also above where it would have been had the pandemic never happened, judging by what the Congressional Budget Office projected in early 2020.
