The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut published a press release on Monday related to a man being charged with child exploitation offenses related to artificial intelligence-generated child pornography. Travis Tilley, 40, originally from Naugatuck, appeared in New Haven federal court on Monday after he was charged with the receipt of possession of child pornography. It appears that this is not the first time Tilley has had a run-in with authorities related to child exploitation crimes. “The penalties in this matter are enhanced because of Tilley’s prior state...

A Boeing 737 skidded off a runway at an airport in Senegal’s capital, injuring at least 11 people and grounding all operations while crew assisted with an evacuation of the aircraft.

The Air Senegal flight operated by TransAir was set to take off from the Blaise Diagne airport in the country’s capital of Dakar and fly to the city of Bamako in Mali on Thursday around midnight when the plane "came off the runway during its take-off phase," Senegal Transport Minister El Malick Ndiaye told reporters.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The rate of guns stolen from cars in the U.S. has tripled over the last decade, making them the largest source of stolen guns in the country, an analysis of FBI data by the gun safety group Everytown found. The rate of stolen guns from cars climbed nearly every year and spiked during the coronavirus pandemic along with a major surge in weapons purchases in the U.S., according to the report, which analyzes FBI data from 337 cities in 44 states and was provided to The Associated...

PALMER — A plan to grant special law enforcement powers to Chickaloon tribal police officers was put on indefinite hold last week because public safety officials feared it could lead to altercations between those officers and nontribal members, officials said Monday. The plan, which was to be in place by mid-June, would have allowed Chickaloon police officers to enforce certain state laws and arrest members of the general public in a roughly 68-square-mile area near Sutton. It was designed to augment state trooper presence in the area. Officials last week...

A body was found inside a shed Monday and a search is underway for the South Carolina man’s killer, officials said. At about 11:10 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of Greenwich Drive, the Aiken Department of Public Safety said. That’s in Aiken, in the area between Silver Bluff Road and Whiskey Road. Officers discovered the body inside a backyard shed, according to the department of public safety. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Aiken resident Jalen Jones, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said. Jones...

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating whether Tesla did enough to improve driver safety after recalling roughly 2 million vehicles to fix a software defect in their autopilot monitoring system.

Why it matters: This is just the latest hurdle Tesla has faced over safety concerns related to its autopilot software. NHTSA has been investigating the company's autopilot system and crashes for years.

Driving the news: The original recall, issued last December, covered almost all of the cars Tesla had sold in the U.S. at the time.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it plans to investigate a close call involving JetBlue and Southwest aircraft in Washington on Thursday.

JetBlue Airways told FOX Business that Flight 1554, which was flying from Washington, D.C., to Boston, had to abort its takeoff because another aircraft had attempted to cross the runway.

Tesla has been ordered to recall nearly 4,000 of its Cybertrucks due to an accelerator pedal that can stick in place when pressed down.

The cause, according to the regulator: soap.

“An unapproved change introduced lubricant (soap) to aid in the component assembly of the pad onto the accelerator pedal. Residual lubricant reduced the retention of the pad to the pedal,” the NHTSA wrote in the recall document.

Tesla will recall nearly 3,900 Cybertruck pickups because of defective accelerator pedals that could dislodge, causing the vehicles to unintentionally accelerate and increasing the risk of a crash, according to a filing Friday, after Tesla halted Cybertruck deliveries last week amid speculation the models were affected by faulty pedals.

The recall affects 3,878 Tesla Cybertruck vehicles manufactured between November 2023 and April 2024, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing.

Tesla has voluntarily recalled all of the nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks it has sold over faulty accelerator pedals that risk causing fatal accidents, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration confirmed on Friday.

According to a safety recall report by the NHTSA, the pad on the accelerator pedals of affected Cybertrucks “may dislodge, which may cause the pedal to become trapped in the interior trim above the pedal.”

The issue increases the risk of a collision as the driver loses the ability to properly use both the accelerator and the brake pedals.
