The underdog in Georgia’s Republican primary race for governor is seizing on the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion for a last-minute jolt to his flailing candidacy before the May 24 election.

Former Sen. David Perdue, who is trailing incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp in polls by double digits, is working to convince voters that he is the more pro-life candidate. He is pledging to impose an all-out ban on abortion if the Supreme Court ultimately overturns the constitutional right to abortion.

A draft Supreme Court ruling that would overturn Roe v. Wade means that abortion pills may become a key part of the next legal frontier to access to abortion.

If finalized, the ruling would overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade court opinion that established a national right to an abortion, as well as a later ruling, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, that affirmed the right. If that happens, then each state could set laws about whether and when to allow abortion. Some states already have laws that would reinstate abortion restrictions if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

Abortion survivors, who are now mothers themselves, are speaking out this Mother's Day offering encouragement for women nationwide as the fallout over the Supreme Court leak continues.

In a bill introduced this past week, a Louisiana lawmaker describes human life as "created in the image of God" and seeks to make abortion a homicide from the moment of fertilization – sparking concerns from reproductive rights advocates that such a law would also jeopardize access to contraception and fertility treatments.

In discourse about Roe v. Wade being overturned and states severely restricting or limiting abortions, much of the discussion is (rightly) focused on the potential fallout for those with unwanted or unsustainable pregnancies. It's girls and women of childbearing age on whom such prohibitions would fall the hardest, or at least the most directly. But banning abortion would bring many second-order effects that merit consideration, too. Some children, families, and medical professionals may suffer grave consequences. We're also likely to see a drastically expanded state.

America’s faithful are bracing — some with cautionary joy and others with looming dread — for the Supreme Court to potentially overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and end the nationwide right to legal abortion.

Disney has remained silent on the Supreme Court opinion leak, even after making several public statements regarding Florida’s newest laws. 

CEO Bob Chapek issued a statement on Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill shortly after the legislation was officially signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Chapek said that the bill, which he also called the "Don’t Say Gay" bill, "should never have passed and should never have been signed into law."

Wade, he invoked a surprising name given the case’s subject. In writing about abortion, a matter inextricably tied to a woman’s control over her body, Alito chose to quote from Sir Matthew Hale, a 17th-century English jurist whose writings and reasonings have caused enduring damage to women for hundreds of years.
