May’s Supplemental Security Income payment, worth up to $967, will go out to millions of beneficiaries in eight days. The next SSI payments are scheduled to be distributed on May 1. SSI payments are given to beneficiaries living with debilitating disabilities that affect their income, according to the Social Security Administration. To meet eligibility requirements, filers need to be at least partially blind or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that seriously limits their daily activities for 12 months or more or may be expected to result in death.” The...

The third and final round of April’s Social Security payments, worth up to $5,108 for the highest-income earners who retire at 70, will go out to retirees today. Social Security payments typically begin on the second Wednesday of every month, and the following waves go out in the subsequent weeks. The distribution of payments depends on which day of the month a retiree was born. Retirees born on or after the 21st of a month receive their payments today. Citizens are eligible for Social Security payments starting at 62 years...

A Middlesex County woman admitted that she claimed over $150,000 of her mother’s Social Security benefits for nearly eight years after she died, federal prosecutors announced Monday. Deborah Bailey, 68, of Piscataway, pleaded guilty in Trenton federal court to theft of public money, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey. Bailey’s mother began collecting benefits from the Social Security Administration in January 1997 and died on July 1, 2016, the office said. It was unclear how and where the mother died and a spokeswoman...

The last Social Security payment for April will be on its way to recipients soon and if you haven't received yours yet, this is likely when you'll get it. Social Security benefit payments are sent monthly for people who have applied for retirement, survivors or disability benefits. When you receive your Social Security check is determined by checking how long you've been receiving benefits, whether you receive additional government benefits or the day of the month you were born. If you're unsure when you should be receiving your payment, we'll...

The Department of Government Efficiency now has limited access to personal Social Security data after a judge’s preliminary-injunction decision on Thursday. The Department of Government Efficiency will be allowed only limited access to Social Security data after a federal court handed a ruling that will block the agency from tapping beneficiaries’ personal identifiable information at will. A federal judge temporarily halted DOGE from accessing Social Security data late Thursday night with a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit brought forth by labor groups.

Nearly three dozen migrants have produced documents proving they're alive after the Social Security Administration labeled them as being deceased, The Washington Post reported. Administration staff reinstated the affected individuals into Social Security databases, the Post reported Friday. Earlier this week, the Post reported federal agencies were sharing information with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in efforts to identify and remove illegal migrants who are benefiting from entitlement programs.

Elon Musk’s DOGE efforts to burrow into the private data of millions of Americans has been thwarted after a judge issued a temporary injunction banning the billionaire’s goons from getting “unfettered access” to Social Security servers. The case, brought against DOGE by two labor unions and an advocacy group for retirees, accused the Musk lackeys of accessing sensitive personal information in a way that could cause “irreparable harm” to individuals if mishandled.
