Representative Cori Bush (D., Mo.), the progressive “Squad” member who recently stopped short of calling Hamas a terrorist organization, lost a competitive House primary bid Tuesday night against St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell, who positioned himself as a pro-Israel alternative during the race.

The Associated Press called Bell’s primary victory at 11 p.m. EDT. He will now vie for Bush’s place in the House come November, facing the winner of Tuesday’s GOP primary in a district that President Joe Biden won by more than 60 points in 2020.

Wesley Bell, the St. Louis County prosecutor, defeated Bush. Since Missouri’s 1st Congressional District, which includes all of St. Louis and many of its northern and western suburbs, is overwhelmingly Democratic, Bell is all but assured of a seat in Congress come November.

Ms Bush came to prominence as an organiser in the Black Lives Matter movement and, after taking office in 2021, as one of the "Squad" of Democratic members of the House known for supporting progressive causes.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman was trounced in a suburban New York race that became a referendum on progressives’ attitudes toward Israel and the most expensive House primary in U.S. history.

Moderate Democrat George Latimer bested Bowman on Tuesday by 17 points with 88 percent of the vote in, making Bowman the first member of the Squad to lose an election since the far-left group formed in 2018.

Representative Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.) lost his third-term primary bid to Westchester County executive George Latimer on Tuesday, as New York Democrats overwhelmingly rejected the “Squad” member’s hostile brand of anti-Israel radicalism.

Latimer easily bested Bowman, capturing 55 percent of the vote to Bowman’s 45 percent, with just over half of votes in. The Associated Press called the race less than an hour after polls closed.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Democrat primary opponent alleges that the far left member of "The Squad" has been absent from her New York district and is only focusing on making herself famous. 

"AOC is absent on community," challenger Marty Dolan said on the Thursday edition of the Just the News, No Noise TV show. "She's not around. She's absent on crime. She's not around. She's off doing things that are making her famous."
