“Republicans in northwest Iowa ousted Rep. Steve King in Tuesday’s primary, deciding they’ve had enough of the conservative lightning rod known for making incendiary comments about immigrants and white supremacy… The nine-term congressman, shunned by his party leadership in Washington and many of his longtime supporters at home, lost to well-funded state Sen. Randy Feenstra.”( AP News)

Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia all had primary elections on Tuesday. NPR

Iowa Republicans drove Steve King out of office on a primary day marked by civil unrest.

King's defeat was the top headline in Tuesday's primaries. The nine-term congressman with a history of racist and anti-immigrant remarks was ousted after the GOP establishment offered his opponent both material and symbolic assistance.

He claimed there was “no way” she had been “objectively honest” when she swore under oath in July that some detainees told her during a visit to one facility that they’d had to drink out of the toilet bowl because the sink was broken. King, who has a long history of making racist and white supremacist comments, claimed the video showed him drinking from the very same sink.

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said Wednesday that during a recent visit to a migrant detention facility he drank from a toilet that also served as a water fountain and that the water was "actually pretty good."

"I actually went into that cell where it was reported that they were advised they had to drink out of the toilet,” King told a crowd of about 80 people at a town hall in Eagle Grove, Iowa. "I took a drink out of there. And actually pretty good."

Rep. Liz Cheney, a member of House GOP leadership, renewed her calls for fellow Republican Rep. Steve King's resignation Wednesday after he made headlines for his comments on rape and incest.
Mr. King of Iowa said while speaking to the Westside Conservative Club Wednesday that he opposes providing abortions in cases of rape and incest because it's likely everyone's lineage includes rape somewhere along the line.

Representative Steve King (R., Iowa) has made a habit of flirting with the noxious fringe in matters pertaining to culture, race, and immigration, but he inarguably crossed over the line — the border?
