With new wide-ranging and aggressive tariffs from the Trump administration and the possibility of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expiring at the end of the year, average Americans could face a hefty price tag.

"If the tax cuts expire, the median family would lose about $1,000," nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) Kimberly Clausing told Fox News Digital, citing a model from the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center.

NPR CEO Katherine Maher and her counterpart at PBS, Paula Kerger, appeared Wednesday before a House subcommittee on government efficiency, where they defended public broadcasting against accusations by Republican lawmakers of political bias.

U.S. President Joe Biden sketched his policy vision for a potential second four-year term on Monday, unveiling a $7.3 trillion election-year budget aimed at convincing skeptical Americans that he can run the economy better than Donald Trump.

Biden wants to raise taxes by trillions on corporations and high earners, his budget wish-list showed, to help cut the deficit and pay for new programs assisting those who make less cope with high housing and childcare costs. Congress is unlikely to adopt the measures as proposed.

An effort to defund “risky” news websites is misleading Americans about what qualifies as disinformation and which news sources are worthy of their trust.

The Global Disinformation Index (GDI) recently published its 2022 “Disinformation Risk Assessment” on U.S. news media sources. The U.K.-based company’s rankings of the 10 “riskiest” and 10 “lowest risk” sources are heavily biased in favor of mainstream, liberal-leaning news outlets. The list was exposed in a series of Washington Examiner reports.

Orange County, New York, Executive Steve Neuhaus said Gov. Kathy Hochul’s plan to boost state Medicaid spending comes at a cost to local taxpayers.

In her newly released state budget, Hochul proposes a stop to passing enhanced federal Medicaid dollars to 57 county governments; instead, the money will be used for increased state-level spending.

The proposed withholding is estimated to be $280 million in the coming fiscal year, according to an analysis by the New York State Association of Counties.

In April 2016, government auditors asked a Blue Cross Medicare Advantage health plan in Minnesota to turn over medical records of patients treated by a podiatry practice whose owner had been indicted for fraud.

Medicare had paid the Blue Cross plan more than $20,000 to cover the care of 11 patients seen by Aggeus Healthcare, a chain of podiatry clinics, in 2011.
