Donald Trump's running mate for the presidential election will likely be male, according to booking odds, which may come as a surprise following predictions that he will choose a woman.

The former president and GOP 2024 presumptive nominee is yet to publicly announce who he will choose as his running mate in the presidential election but speculation has increased over the last few weeks and months about who it could be.

Former President Donald Trump has narrowed down his vice presidential short list to seven candidates, or so it seems based on who reportedly received vetting materials from the campaign.

Trump is unpredictable and his pick of former Vice President Mike Pence was largely kept under wraps before the announcement. But there are some useful insights to be gleaned from the reported veepstakes semifinalists.

Former President Trump has requested financial and other documents from eight potential VP picks as he formalizes his vetting, an official tells Axios.

The intrigue: Some candidates got more extensive paperwork requests than others — a possible clue to how hotly they're being considered.

The contenders, in no particular order:

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who is reportedly a top contender for Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick, has jumped on the bandwagon of flying the Christian nationalist ā€œAppeal To Heavenā€ flag.

Cotton proudly announced on social media that he had installed the flag outside his Senate office. ā€œI stand with George Washington and Martha-Ann Alito over pearl-clutching libs at the New York Times and Democrats in Congress,ā€ he wrote.

President Joe Biden has imposed a ā€œde facto arms embargoā€ against Israel, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said on Sunday, offering his latest reaction to the commander-in-chief suggesting the United States could halt weapons going to a close ally.

Cotton, who has called for Biden to get impeached over the threat to Israel if it launches a full-scale ground operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, expounded on his criticism of the president during an interview on CBS News.

New York Mayor Eric Adams reacted in anger and disgust after anti-Israel protesters vandalized a World War I memorial in New York City on Monday. The 107th United States Infantry monument, located along Central Park on the Upper East Side, depicts seven U.S. Army soldiers in the throes of battle in September 1918, as they burst through the Hindenburg Line — the last and strongest of the German army's defense. On Monday, as anti-Israel protests were underway in the area near Hunter College and the star-studded Met Gala, demonstrators placed...

The glitz and glamour of the Met Gala in New York City was not without controversy this year as anti-Israel protesters descended on the area of the annual event in an attempt to cause a disruption. Anti-Israel protesters have escalated their tactics in recent weeks in response to nationwide clampdowns on encampments on colleges campuses and the Israeli military entering the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Organizers called for a "Day of Rage" to put pressure on the United States to intervene and stop Israel's latest military...

Politicians on both sides of the political aisle recognized Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday. "This year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day is especially somber. Right now, Israel is waging a war against terrorists who deny its right to exist and perpetrated the worst massacre of Jews since World War II. Here in America, college campuses are becoming increasingly hostile to Jewish students as antisemitic mobs espousing vile rhetoric go unchecked by liberal administrators and politicians," GOP Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas said in a statement. "'Never again' is not a slogan, it's...

Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas consistently has staked out a tough-on-crime stance during his time in the Senate, but he and other congressional Republicans have sided with the defendants in a Supreme Court case about the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

The justices hear oral arguments Tuesday in a case from Joseph Fischer, who is challenging his charges related to Jan. 6 under a law that allows up to a 20-year prison sentence for people convicted of ā€œcorruptlyā€ obstructing, influencing or impeding a proceeding before Congress.

EXCLUSIVE — Dave McCormick, the Republican contender in Pennsylvania’s Senate election, said he wants to use his experience as a prominent business executive to cut federal regulations and pare back the administrative state. McCormick, 58, is a West Point graduate and combat veteran who has made a major name for himself in the world of business and finance. After a few years of service in the Bush administration, he joined well-known hedge fund Bridgewater Associates. McCormick served as Bridgewater’s CEO from 2017 until 2022. During an interview with the Washington...
