A high school field hockey player called on the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) to make a change after an incident during a match last week.

During a playoff game on Thursday night between Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School and Swampscott High School, a girl on the Dighton-Rehoboth team suffered "significant facial and dental injuries" that "required hospitalization" after she took a shot to the face from a male from Swampscott.

An Aug. 28 Facebook post (direct link, archive link) shows a cutout photo of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

ā€œInternational Olympic Committee Issues Lifetime Ban For Lia Thomas,ā€ reads text in the photo.

Many commenters took the post seriously.

ā€œFinally a win for real girls competing!!!!ā€ wrote one Facebook user.

ā€œIt should be this way across all women's category sports!!!ā€ wrote another.

North Carolina became the latest state to ban male-born athletes from female sports and gender-transition procedures for minors as the Republican supermajority overrode Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s vetoes.

In a daylong override spree, Republican legislators overturned vetoes Wednesday on a half-dozen bills, including measures related to transgender issues and parental rights.

North Carolina Republican lawmakers overrode Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s vetoes on Wednesday to pass six new laws, including enacting new restrictions on LGBTQ+ rights.

Both the Senate and House voted to bypass Cooper on a trio of of bills impacting the LGBTQ+ community. One new law makes North Carolina the 23rd state to prohibit transgender female athletes from playing on girls’ and women’s sports teams.

The North Carolina legislature’s Republican supermajority voted to override vetoes from the state’s Democratic governor on a slew of bills Wednesday evening, including a trio of measures that target transgender youth.

The House’s and Senate’s override votes, which passed largely along party lines, mean bills that ban gender-affirming care for minors, restrict how gender identity can be discussed in schools, and prohibit transgender athletes from competing on girls’ sports teams are now law in the state.

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines delivered a fact check in real time to a Democrat witness during a Wednesday hearing.

Gaines, who also testified during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing titled ā€œProtecting Pride: Defending the Civil Rights of LGBTQ+ Americans,ā€ disputed the claim — made by Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson — that biological males had no inherent advantage when it came to athletics.

Claim: The NCAA stripped transgender swimmer Lia Thomas of her Division I national championship after ā€œunfavorableā€ test results.

Rating: Labeled Satire

About this rating: On May 11, 2023, the website The Dunning-Kruger Times published an article claiming that the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) had decided to strip transgender swimmer Lia Thomas of her national championship title:

NCAA Strips Lia Thomas Of National Championship After "Unfavorable" Test Results

Just when you thought Virginia’s Loudoun County Public Schools could not get any worse. Now, Biden’s Department of Education has launched an investigation into how the school system handled two 2021 sexual assaults against girls by a boy claiming to be ā€œtransgender.ā€ Its investigation of those complaints will force the department to come to terms with the inconsistencies in its own legally suspect expansion of Title IX that mandates biological males claiming to be female be considered the same as biological females under the law.
