Complaints about parked cars blocking fire hydrants have more than doubled since the start of the pandemic — with critics blaming the surge on bike lanes and even a lack of cops, records show.

The number of 311 calls on blocked hydrants has been skyrocketing for years, with 11,886 reports in 2014 ballooning to 64,346 in 2020 to more than 100,000 every year since, according to an analysis of city data by The Post.

The National Transportation Safety Board is looking into flight data discrepancies, potential altimeter malfunctions and a possible miscommunication with air traffic control in the midair collision of an Army helicopter and a commercial airplane last month in the deadliest U.S. air crash in almost a quarter century.

“We are looking at the possibility of there may be bad data,” NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy said at a news conference on Friday. “We have a lot of work to do till we get to that.”

The United States is going to ban Russian and Chinese software in vehicles, according to the Department of Commerce, due to national security concerns.

The final rule, posted on the federal register Tuesday morning, comes after the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security previewed the rule months ago.

During the rulemaking process, the Bureau of Industry and Security found that certain technologies originating from China or Russia present an undue and unacceptable risk to U.S. national security.

Sean P. Duffy, President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to head the Transportation Department, had a light day Wednesday compared with some other Cabinet picks, promising senators he’d work to improve safety and get Boeing “back on track.”

The Turo app was used to rent the cars associated with the vehicular attack in New Orleans as well as the Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Newsweek reached out to the Turo communications team via email for comment. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, has been named the suspect in the New Year's attack on Bourbon Street that killed at least 15 people and injured 30 early Wednesday morning. Later on Wednesday in Las Vegas, a Cybertruck exploded in front of the Trump International Hotel, killing one and injuring seven others....

The deadly New Orleans terror attack and the Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on New Year’s Day have at least one connection — the car-sharing app Turo.

While officials have indicated that they have no evidence so far that the two incidents may be linked, investigators have determined the pickup truck used by a terrorist on Bourbon Street and the exploding Tesla truck were both procured using Turo.

Turo is a platform that allows users to rent vehicles from trusted hosts that are registered with the site.
