Tesla has voluntarily recalled all of the nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks it has sold over faulty accelerator pedals that risk causing fatal accidents, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration confirmed on Friday.

According to a safety recall report by the NHTSA, the pad on the accelerator pedals of affected Cybertrucks ā€œmay dislodge, which may cause the pedal to become trapped in the interior trim above the pedal.ā€

The issue increases the risk of a collision as the driver loses the ability to properly use both the accelerator and the brake pedals.

Large U.S. airlines and some of their unions are asking the Biden administration to stop approving any more flights between the United States and China because of what they call ā€œanti-competitiveā€ policies that China imposes on U.S. carriers. The airlines and unions said Thursday that China closed its market to U.S. carriers at the outbreak of the pandemic and imposed rules that still affect American operations and airline crews. ā€œThese actions demonstrated the clear need for the U.S. government to establish a policy that protects U.S. aviation workers, industry and...

Skyrocketing auto insurance costs helped contribute to inflation accelerating at a faster-than-expected pace in March and are adding to the ever more expensive costs for U.S. vehicle owners.

On a monthly basis, car insurance prices as part of the consumer price index rose by an unadjusted 2.7%, while the year-over-year increased by 22.2%, according to data released Wednesday. The index is a key inflation gauge and a broad measure of the cost of goods and services across the economy.

A pair of lawmakers is urging top administration officials to execute caution in approving additional flights between the United States and China. Reps. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) in a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday raised worries about unfair market practices they said China is engaging in and security concerns with airlines flying through Russian airspace. The lawmakers said that after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, China suspended its bilateral services agreement with the U.S.

Three top DOT officials saw flood damage at the center of a civil rights probe. An unlikely visitor made his way through rural Alabama last Wednesday to visit the community of Shiloh, a place usually far from the public eye. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and two of his top officials came to Shiloh at the request of local landowners who say they've experienced frequent flooding ever since the state widened a highway alongside their homes. Many of the Black families that make up the Shiloh community have owned their...

Tesla on Tuesday posted a decline in quarterly deliveries for the first time in nearly four years and missed Wall Street estimates, a performance some described as "ugly" as price cuts failed to stir demand in a highly competitive market.

Shares of the Elon Musk-led company were down 5.2% at $166.08 on Tuesday afternoon, losing about $30 billion in market value. The shares have fallen about 33% so far this year.

United Airlines is asking pilots to take unpaid time off next month, citing late-arriving aircraft from Boeing, according to a note sent to pilots.

It’s another example of how Boeing’s customers say the manufacturer’s production problems and safety crisis are impacting their growth plans. The offer comes after United and other airlines in recent years have clamored for more pilots when the Covid-19 pandemic travel slump ended and demand surged.

The Biden administration on Friday announced a regulation designed to turbocharge sales of electric or other zero-emission heavy vehicles, from school buses to cement mixers, as part of its multifront attack on global warming.

The Environmental Protection Agency projects the new rule could mean that 25 percent of new long-haul trucks, the heaviest on the road, and 40 percent of medium-size trucks, like box trucks and landscaping vehicles, could be nonpolluting by 2032. Today, fewer than 2 percent of new heavy trucks sold in the United States fit that bill.

The Environmental Protection Agency today announced a final rule the agency said sets stronger standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from heavy-duty vehicles beginning in model year 2027. Major trucking organizations reacted, saying the industry has already done plenty to reduce pollution, and the new rules will be expensive, and overly burdensome, especially for small trucking businesses.
