Buoyed by positive gains for shares of Boeing and Amazon.com Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is soaring Wednesday morning.

The Dow Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading 853 points, or 2.2%, higher, as shares of Boeing Boeing Co. and Amazon.com Inc. Amazon.com Inc. are contributing about one third of the blue-chip gauge's intraday rally.

Shares of Amazon.com Inc. and Boeing are posting strong returns Wednesday morning, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average soaring.

The Dow Dow Jones Industrial Average was most recently trading 1,047 points higher (2.7%), as shares of Amazon.com Inc. Amazon.com Inc. and Boeing Boeing Co. are contributing around one third of the blue-chip gauge's intraday rally.

Boeing Co. reported first-quarter earnings that exceeded Wall Street’s estimates, giving the embattled planemaker a greater degree of stability to navigate dislocations in global trade that have complicated exports.

The planemaker used $2.3 billion in free cash in the three months ended March 31 as it ramped up jet production, Boeing said in a statement Wednesday. That’s better than the $3.4 billion withdrawal that analysts had predicted, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The adjusted loss per share of 49 cents also beat analysts’ predictions.

California's high-speed rail project has solved an issue that could have prevented it from building vital parts of its infrastructure. The City of Millbrae and the California High-Speed Rail Authority reached an agreement on Tuesday, resolving a legal dispute that could have blocked the project from building train stations in the area. The summer opening hours of three English Heritage sites have been cut. Brinkburn Priory, in Morpeth, and Aydon Castle, in Corbridge, will open just once a month for guided tours during the summer, the charity said. People would soon be able to visit Northumberland's Prudhoe Castle grounds for free, it added, but tours inside would be restricted. Airbus SE plans to source some metal to manufacture its aircraft from Saudi Arabia as part of a widebody aircraft deal with the kingdom’s flag carrier.

The European manufacturer signed a deal on Wednesday to buy 2.5 billion Riyals ($666 million) worth of raw material, mainly titanium, from Saudi Arabia. The accord also included an order from national carrier Saudia for as many as 20 long-range aircraft.
