President Trump is famous for his love of everything gold and other trappings that connote royalty, whether it be large military parades or extravagant inaugural balls.

But in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday, Mr. Trump went a step further, likening himself to a king as he celebrated his administration’s move to kill New York City’s congestion pricing program.

ā€œCONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED,ā€ he wrote. ā€œLONG LIVE THE KING!ā€

Former President Donald J. Trump’s stake in his social media company is worth half of what it was before his conviction on charges of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal during the 2016 presidential campaign

Mr. Trump’s roughly 65 percent stake in Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent of Truth Social, was worth roughly $6 billion on May 30, the day a New York jury found him guilty on all 34 charges. On Friday, the value of his 115 million shares of Trump Media had dropped to less than $3 billion.

Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG), trading under the moniker "DJT, plunged on Friday, a day after the company's majority shareholder former president Donald Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records.

The company's share price declined 5.30 percent by close of trading on Friday which amounted to a $314 million loss in value for Trump's shares.

Some analysts suggested that the conviction may have impacted the performance of TMTG's shares on Friday.

A campaign video posted to former President Trump’s Truth Social page Monday included a note about establishing a ā€œunified Reichā€ and other references to the German Empire as hypothetical headlines if he were to win the 2024 election.

The video was widely criticized online, including by the Biden campaign, which said it is ā€œechoing Nazi Germany.ā€

If Donald Trump is held in contempt of court again, the New York City Department of Corrections will "be ready" for his incarceration, according to Mayor Eric Adams. In the former president's Manhattan criminal trial, Judge Juan Merchan has ordered Trump to pay a total of $10,000 for repeatedly violating a gag order that forbade him from publicly discussing witnesses and jurors in the case. Following Tuesday's bombshell testimony from former adult film actress Stormy Daniels , some have questioned whether Trump, 77, might violate the order yet again and...

Shares of Trump Media plunged more than 13% on Monday after the company filed to issue millions of additional shares of stock.

Trump Media’s dramatic slide came as Donald Trump headed to a Manhattan court to begin jury selection for his criminal trial on hush money-related charges. Trump is the majority stakeholder in the company.

Trump Media, which created the Truth Social app and trades under the stock ticker DJT on the Nasdaq, fell nearly 20% last week.

National Public Radio’s (NPR)’s new CEO denounced claims from a senior editor that the outlet has ā€œlost America’s trust,ā€ calling the comments made in an op-ed ā€œdisrespectfulā€ and ā€œhurtful.ā€ Katherine Maher explained in a message to employees Friday that the editor, Uri Berliner, called the outlet’s mission into question in two ways: Critiquing the quality and integrity of the editorial process, and criticizing ā€œwho we are.ā€ ā€œAsking a question about whether we’re living up to our mission should always be fair game: after all, journalism is nothing if not hard...

Experts agree the IPO market is heating up but one segment of it is being left in the cold: Special Purpose Acquisition Companies of SPACs, which are publicly-traded shell companies with a mandate to acquire a private firm. SPACs provide a back door of sorts to the public markets and, while they were wildly popular in 2021, the model is now languishing as SPACs accounted for only 6.3% of the $8.4 billion raised by IPOs in the first quarter of 2024. A Q1 2024 Quarterly Review also shows SPACs in...

Some investors in Trump's newly public media company are having a very bad time right now. According to a new CNN , " Media is now trading below $31. That’s a far cry from the intraday spike to nearly $80 on March 26, the day it went public on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol 'DJT.' "In fact, anyone who bought Trump Media at the closing high of $66.22 on March 27 has now lost more than half of their money." One consequence of this is that Trump himself, who...

The House voted 273 to 147 Friday in favor of reauthorizing the surveillance bill that has been exploited by the FBI hundreds of thousands of times to spy on American citizens. Only 59 Republicans reportedly voted against renewing Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The bill is now headed to the Senate, where it will likely be passed before the April 19 deadline, to the great satisfaction of its champions in the Biden administration, members of the the House Intelligence Committee, and Attorney General Merrick Garland. The bill...
