While the United Nations typically assists in humanitarian efforts around the world, it was recently revealed that staff members for the organization's Palestinian relief arm may have played a role in something else: Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel. The revelation came following an investigation into 19 U.N. employees who were alleged to have had ties to the attack. Only nine of the 19 were found to be culpable, though questions remain as to what their actual involvement may have been, and where the United Nations goes from here....

NEW YORK CITY —The United Nations approved its first international cybercrime treaty yesterday. The effort succeeded despite opposition from tech companies and human rights groups, who warn that the agreement will permit countries to expand invasive electronic surveillance in the name of criminal investigations. Experts from these organizations say that the treaty undermines the global human rights of freedom of speech and expression because it contains clauses that countries could interpret to internationally prosecute any perceived crime that takes place on a computer system. The U.N.

U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov told the Security Council on Thursday that the Islamic State and its affiliates are gaining power in West Africa and the Sahel region. Voronkov said ISIS still wants to carry out terrorist attacks around the world. Voronkov warned ISIS could soon take “effective control” over a “vast territory stretching from Mali to northern Nigeria” if current trends continue. ISIS and its allies are also gaining strength in parts of Mozambique, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The U.N.

The United Nations (U.N.) is acknowledging that nine members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) were likely involved in the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel. “For nine people, the evidence was sufficient to conclude that they may have been involved in the seventh of October attacks,” Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the U.N. Secretary-General, said. At least 19 UNWRA staff members were initially accused of participating in the terrorist attacks.

U.N. fires 9 more staffers over potential involvement in Oct. 7 attack on Israel JERUSALEM — The United Nations said Monday it has fired additional staff members from its agency for Palestinian refugees after an internal investigation found they may have been involved in the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attack against Israel. The U.N. secretary-general's office announced the move in a brief statement to journalists. Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the secretary-general, did not elaborate on the UNRWA staffers' likely role in the attack or on the evidence that prompted its...

The United Nations on Monday fired nine employees of UNRWA, its Palestinian relief agency, after an internal probe concluded they may have taken part in the Oct. 7 Hamas rampage into southern Israel that killed about 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and resulted in hundreds of others taken hostage. The U.N.’s Office of Internal Oversight Services said it completed its investigation into 19 UNRWA staffers alleged to have taken part in the attacks launched from the Gaza Strip. There was no evidence of involvement in one of the cases...

The United Nations is confirming that nine employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, or Unrwa, may have participated in the October 7 attacks on Israel months after the allegations were first made by the Israeli government. America has suspended its funding for Unrwa until at least 2025. The Office of Internal Oversight Services says, after completing its review, that the employees were possibly involved in the attacks, which took place in southern Israel and claimed the lives of around 1,200 Israelies. “The evidence obtained by OIOS indicated...

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has reportedly found Hezbollah responsible for the terror rocket that last Saturday killed 12 children in the Golan Heights’ Majdal Shams. Sky News Arabia reported the findings, according to the Times of Israel. The Hezbollah terrorist organization has denied it was behind the deadly rocket attack that struck a soccer field in the Druze town, partly because the victims were children, and also because there is a Druze population in southern Lebanon capable of rising up against Hezbollah if sufficiently provoked. RELATED:...
