Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) said on Sunday that his constituents agree with most Americans that immigrants who entered the country illegally and commit crimes should be deported. He added, however, that his constituents also support a path to legal status for those who “play by the rules,” in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday.” “Look, I think most people in my district and across the country think, you’re here without authorization, you’ve come illegally, you’re committing crimes, you got to get sent back to where you came,” Deluzio said...

Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) is urging President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to spare some migrants from Latin America and the Caribbean from being deported under the new administration’s immigration guidelines. The South Florida Congresswoman asked the acting DHS Secretary Benjamine Huffman to continue “protecting” Venezuelans, Haitians, Cubans and Nicaraguans who do not have criminal records and were permitted to enter and work in the U.S. under former President Biden’s “humanitarian parole” program.

Freshman Rep. Addison McDowell (R-N.C.) introduced legislation this week to rename the Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington after President Trump. McDowell, who represents North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District, proposed the bill on Thursday alongside Reps. Guy Reschanthaler (R-Pa.), Brian Jack (R-Ga.), Riley Morre (R-W.Va.) and Brandon Gill (R-Texas). If the legislation ends up passing through Congress and is signed into law, the airport will be named ‘‘Donald J. Trump International Airport’’.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) criticized fellow Democrats for attending President Trump’s inauguration, following his refusal to make an appearance at former President Biden’s 2020 ceremony. “They didn‘t have the decency to invite the Bidens to the White House. And so just the level of indignity that they‘d shown and disrespect to tradition to me said no one should show him dignity and respect,” Omar said during a Thursday evening appearance on CNN’s “The Source” with Katilan Collins. The lawmaker has long clashed with Trump and Republicans over comments made about...

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) proposed an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would allow President Trump to serve a third term in the White House so that the country “can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs.” Ogles proposed an amendment on Thursday that says, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President,...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that the second term for President Trump is a “billionaire feeding frenzy” and “kiss a— race.” During “The Weekly Show” podcast hosted by comedian Jon Stewart, the New York Democrat said of Trump that “all of these people that were scared before about like being associated with him
 from
the most common basic level to the most elite level, they’re all like
they’re all all in now, because this is now a billionaire feeding frenzy.” “It is a kiss a– race,”...

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Wednesday criticized Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for defending President Trump’s recent pardons for rioters at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. “I’m speaking as a Christian here, I saw Speaker Johnson say, ‘We believe in redemption,’” Kinzinger said on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360.” “How dare you use the Bible in this?” “I mean, don’t talk about repentance, Speaker Johnson, defend this,” Kinzinger added later. “Go out and defend that there’s these criminals on the street now, do that. I’ll respect if you do...

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), whose district borders Mexico, said he supports President Trump’s decision to send 1,500 troops to the southern border. He added, however, that the move is expensive and it’s important to utilize the military as effectively as possible. “I support them, but keep in mind that they are limited as to what they can do,” Cuellar said in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill.” “They don’t have enforcement power,” he continued. “I don’t want them to be sitting in cars or vehicles. I don’t want them to...

Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the Oath Keepers who was convicted of seditious conspiracy in relation to the Jan. 6 riot, was in the Capitol complex on Wednesday to meet with GOP lawmakers — shortly after getting out of prison because President Trump commuted his sentence. Rhodes was spotted in the Dunkin’ Donuts inside Longworth House Office Building, which is accessible to the public, with a group of people. He said he did not go into the actual Capitol building. Rhodes said he was advocating for the release of Jeremy...

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Wednesday said he will establish a new select subcommittee that will probe the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot — and likely dig into the now-defunct Jan. 6 Select Committee that was led by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.). Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) will chair the upcoming select subcommittee, which will be housed within the House Judiciary Committee. Loudermilk pursued his own Jan. 6 investigation within the House Administration Committee, and had long been asking Johnson to break out the probe...
