The number of illegal immigrants arrested while attempting to enter the United States from Mexico dropped in June to the lowest level since the Trump administration, a big win for President Joe Biden four months ahead of the election.

Across the nearly 2,000-mile southern border, Border Patrol agents apprehended 83,536 illegal immigrants last month, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data released Monday evening. It is the lowest figure since former President Donald Trump left office in January 2021.

Reuters published a report on Monday claiming President Joe Biden is deporting more unauthorized migrants than former President Donald Trump. Some sources have claimed that the Reuters report is misleading because it conflates "returns" of unauthorized migrants with "removals."

President Joe Biden imposed asylum restrictions one month ago to ā€œgain control of the borderā€ ahead of the November elections. Migrant encounters subsequently crashed by 40%, with the White House boasting this week that they’d hit a record low.

The Biden administration has begun flying illegal immigrants who came over the southern border back to China after a six-year hiatus in large charter plane repatriation flights.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted its first large charter flight to the People’s Republic of China over the weekend.

The Department of Homeland Security has identified over 400 migrants who were brought to the US from Central Asia and other places by an ISIS-affiliated human smuggling network — and the whereabouts of more than 50 of them are unknown, according to an unsettling report.

More than 150 of the migrants have been arrested, but the locations of another 50 remain unknown, three US officials told NBC News, adding that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is looking to arrest those involved on immigration charges.

Inflation could reaccelerate if former President Trump wins the White House and Republicans win control of Congress, according to a recent report by Moody’s Analytics.

Under the so-called Republican Sweep scenario, which the forecasters place at a 35 percent probability, consumer price inflation accelerates from 3 percent in 2024 to 3.6 percent in 2025, according to the three economists who authored the report.

With little over four months to go before the presidential election, 16 Nobel prize-winning economists are cautioning voters on what they see as the inflationary pitfalls of another Trump administration.

Echoing President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, the group of Nobel laureates say that former President Donald Trump’s economic plans would rekindle inflation and inflict lasting harm on the global economy should he win on Nov. 5.

Arrests for illegal border crossings dropped more than 40% during the three weeks asylum processing has been suspended, the Homeland Security Department has said.

Border Patrol's 7-day daily average arrests have fallen below 2,400, the lowest number since 17 January 2021, according to Homeland Security.

President Joe Biden suspended asylum processing with an executive order to "gain control of the border" on June 5.

Border arrests had decreased 25% as of last week according to Biden, and have now fallen further.

The White House is taking a victory lap after the number of migrants illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico dropped 40% since President Joe Biden's executive order, though the numbers remain high.

The Biden administration said daily crossings have fallen below, 2,400, the lowest level since the final days of the Trump administration.

Biden's executive order shut down asylum requests at the U.S.-Mexico border once the number of daily encounters hits 2,500 between ports of entry, with the border reopening once that number declines to 1,500.
