The United States treated alleged Nazis better during World War II than the Trump administration treated Venezuelan migrants last week, a federal appeals judge told a Justice Department lawyer during a court hearing Monday.

A U.S. appeals court judge said Monday that Nazis received better treatment than the Venezuelan nationals who were deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration last weekend during a hearing over President Donald Trump's use of an 18th-century wartime authority to remove certain foreigners from U.S. soil.

President Donald Trump said Monday that the U.S. will impose 25% tariffs on countries that buy oil and gas from Venezuela, as he seeks to increase pressure on President Nicolas Maduro and China.

Countries that buy oil and gas from Venezuela will face tariffs on any trade they have with the U.S., Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social. The tariffs take effect on April 2, the president said.

Venezuela will resume accepting deportation flights from the US after Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro suspended the flights earlier this month.

Jorge Rodríguez, the president of Venezuela's Assembly and chief negotiator with the U.S. announced the change in policy on Saturday.

"We have agreed with the U.S. government to resume the repatriation of Venezuelan migrants with an initial flight tomorrow, Sunday," Rodriguez said.

As justification for deporting some immigrants in the country without due process, President Donald Trump said the United States is under invasion.

“Evidence irrefutably demonstrates that [Tren de Aragua] has invaded the United States,” a March 15 White House proclamation said. Tren de Aragua is a Venezuela-based gang with some US presence.

The Trump administration has admitted in federal court documents that “many” Venezuelans it accused of being dangerous gang members and deported through presidential wartime powers have no criminal records in the United States, but argued it was only because they had only been in the U.S. briefly. President Donald Trump used a centuries-old law, the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, to deport the Venezuelans without due process in the U.S., saying they were members of the feared Tren de Aragua gang.

The Trump administration faces a midday deadline on Tuesday to provide details about plane loads of Venezuelans it deported despite a judge issuing a temporary ban on removing them.

U.S. Justice Department lawyers must by noon Eastern Time (1600 GMT) answer questions posed by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg surrounding the flights to El Salvador and regarding the proclamation that President Donald Trump issued to justify removing them from the country under a 1798 law.

President Trump said Wednesday he was revoking a Biden-era license allowing Chevron to produce oil in Venezuela over what he said was strongman Nicolás Maduro’s failure to assist in deporting migrants.

Ten Tren de Aragua gangbangers were among the first migrant criminals loaded onto a plane and shipped off to Guantanamo Bay this week.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Wednesday that the TdA creeps were hauled off on a flight out of El Paso, Texas, to Cuba Tuesday afternoon.

“Overall, our heroic ICE agents continue to prioritize the removal of violent criminal illegal aliens in communities across the country,” said Leavitt.
