On the same day the Republican National Convention kicked off in Milwaukee, the Republican National Committee (RNC) and former President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign filed a lawsuit in federal court against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and several other state officials concerning the use of government offices as voter registration sites. Filed Monday in U.S. District Court for The Western District of Michigan, the lawsuit alleges Whitmer violated the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) when she issued a Dec.

The State Board of Election Commissioners approved a rule Monday that bars election officials from accepting voter registration forms signed with an electronic signature. The rule was approved without any audible opposition from the seven-member board and will next go before the Arkansas Legislative Council's Administrative Rules subcommittee Aug. 22. Under the rule, voters would have to sign registration forms with a pen, also known as a "wet signature." Opponents of the measure have criticized it as undemocratic, arguing it would hinder Arkansans' ability to vote.

The campaign of former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee have filed a lawsuit against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, alleging the state has violated the National Voter Registration Act. A complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan asserts that Whitmer lacks the authority to designate federal Small Business Administration (SBA) and Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) offices as voter registration agencies.

A big money effort is under way aimed at providing conservative candidates with a strategic advantage in pivotal battleground states. Starting Monday, Heritage Action for America, a right-wing nonprofit, will unveil a new, multi-million-dollar initiative to "give conservative candidates the electoral edge" in Georgia and Arizona, where officials with Heritage Action said there have long been other organizational resources in place.

The event was previously scheduled to take place Sunday at 11 p.m. and was designed to get people registered to vote and to adopt furry friends. PAINESVILLE — Brian Kenderes, the Democratic nominee for Ohio’s 14th congressional district, will be sentenced on July 25 after pleading guilty to one count of false voter registration, a fifth-degree felony, in the Lake County Court of Common Pleas late last month. According to court records, Kenderes registered or made an attempt to register to vote in a precinct where he was not a qualified voter. Louisiana's top election official announced Wednesday that Louisiana and Alabama have entered into a data-sharing agreement meant to "ensure the further accuracy of their voter registration lists." Secretary of State Nancy Landry said in a news release that Louisiana's participation in the agreement reflects how seriously she takes the responsibility of ensuring the accuracy of voter rolls.
