The Clippers are calling on fans to determine the all-time best players to suit up for the franchise. Starting Monday, the Clippers are running polls via Instagram and X that will allow fans to vote for their all-time Clippers team. The polls will be based on position, and starting and relief pitchers having their own category. Three players are nominated for each position. Columbus has been the Triple-A affiliate of multiple MLB teams, most notably the New York Yankees' from 1979-2006 and the Cleveland Guardians' since 2009. On Monday, starting...

Sports broadcaster Stephen A. Smith received strong reactions for his stances on the Democratic Party and immigration during an appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher." Appearing alongside Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and actor Jesse Eisenberg, Smith said Democrat voters felt duped into thinking Vice President Kamala Harris was well-liked and deserving of the party's nomination. At the same time, he complained that there was no primary for the candidacy after President Biden dropped out of the race. "Kamala Harris, who didn't resonate during the primaries in 2020, couldn't even...

On Saturday's Velshi show, frequent MSNBC guest Elie Mystal made his most recent snide comments about white Americans as he complained that most whites voted for Donald Trump in spite of him telling them "exactly what they were going to do." During a discussion of some of President Trump's actions, including firings, the ending of DEI, and pardoning January 6th rioters, Velshi turned to Mystal, who is a justice correspondent for the far-left magazine The Nation, and lamented Trump's "firehose" of executive action: Elie, it's been a firehose of stuff...

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith admitted that he and others who voted for Kamala Harris in November's election feel like "d--- fools," during an appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher on Friday. Smith made this declaration when discussing comparisons between Harris' campaign and Barack Obama's campaign in 2008. The sports pundit argued that the fact that Harris was not nominated via a legitimate primary, and the fact that she performed so poorly during her short stint in the 2020 Democratic primary, made her undesirable to voters. Harris dropped out...

ATHENS, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Greek lawmakers failed to elect a new president in a first round of voting on Saturday. A majority of 200 votes in the 300-seat parliament was needed for one of the candidates proposed by political parties to assume the post, a largely ceremonial role. A second vote will take place on Jan. 31 but it is also expected to be inconclusive. The required majority drops to 180 votes after two rounds and then to 151 votes. A simple majority of those present is required in...

The Urovitches, who live in Ashland, Mass., had falsely claimed to reside at a house they own in Concord, N.H., when in reality they have rented that house out to tenants since at least 2020 and “only visited the property in their capacity as landlords,” according to prosecutors. Lisa A. Urovitch and Joshua L. Urovitch, who were indicted last fall on three felony counts of wrongful voting, each pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor as part of a plea deal that will allow them to avoid serving time behind bars, as...

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (AP) — A New York county has agreed to redraw its voting map after a lawsuit claimed its political boundaries disenfranchised residents of color. Nassau County reached a settlement Thursday in which the suburban region, located just east of New York City borough of Queens, would create six voting districts in which Black, Latino and Asian residents constitute a majority of eligible voters. The county’s Republican-controlled legislature approved a voting map in 2023 in which residents of color constituted a majority of eligible voters in just four...

If the courts agree with the state’s argument that partisan politics — not race — explains voting patterns, violations of the Voting Rights Act would be more difficult to prove. Black voters overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates in Georgia, while most white voters back Republicans. An attorney for organizations that opposed Georgia’s 2021 districts, Abha Khanna, argued that Black voters need majority-Black districts to win representation. “Black candidates are almost always defeated in these polarized elections outside majority-Black districts,” Khanna said.

As political division and mistrust surfaced again this inauguration week for Americans, some suburbs and Illinois towns are looking to put into action a system that proponents hope can boost fairness and increase trust in the election process: ranked choice voting. Evanston, Skokie, Oak Park, Naperville, Berwyn and downstate Peoria have favored or are exploring the concept, with voters in Evanston and Oak Park overwhelmingly approving it at the polls. While proponents hope voters in Evanston and Oak Park, or possibly other locales, will walk into voting booths as early...
