CNN Airs Audio of Trump Discussing 'Highly Confidential' Documents
Trump says Bedminster audio was leaked to hurt 2024 bid
Donald Trump is fuming as the political world reacts to an audio recording in which the former president seems to display secret Pentagon information about Iran in a 2021 meeting — an episode critical to special counsel Jack Smith’s case against him.
The recording, obtained by CNN, depicts Mr. Trump saying, “These are the papers,” in a July 2021 interview the ex-president gave to people working on a book about former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
CNN Airs Tape Of Trump Appearing To Discuss Classified Defense Documents
An audio clip from July 2021 of former President Donald Trump appearing to discuss classified military documents in his possession was aired by CNN Monday night, challenging Trump's recent denial about having classified documents when the recording took place.
In the two-minute audio clip, Trump talks about being in possession of “a big pile of papers,” including what is purportedly a classified plan about attacking Iran.
Trump heard in audio clip describing "highly confidential, secret" documents
Former President Donald Trump can be heard in an audio recording apparently showing and discussing — "off the record," he says — what he describes as "highly confidential, secret" documents with a writer and aides in 2021.
"It is like highly confidential, secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this. You attack and…." Trump can be heard saying, before another person interrupts. The audio was first obtained by CNN, and has also been obtained by CBS News.
