There's plenty to see in the coming days on local stages, from a film-turned-musical to a some interesting twists on classics. How far will a man go to see his kids? Drag, anyone? When the show is "Mrs. Doubtfire," the musical comedy hit based on the Robin Williams film (which was based on Anne Fine's 1987 novel), the results are hilarious, heartwarming and packed with singing and dancing
and a lot of concealer. Rob McClure, the Tony-nominated actor who first brought the stage character to life, will appear as...

Reactions to the death of O.J. Simpson have begun to percolate, as comments that cropped up steadily on social media, in the press and on television from public figures and people who personally knew him reflected the division that still exists over his infamous acquittal. Simpson died Wednesday from complications of prostate cancer, his agent confirmed to CBS News. He was 76. A National Football League star, actor and broadcaster before his estranged wife's murder in 1994, Simpson rapidly drew global attention and notoriety when he was accused in the...

Whoopi Goldberg balked at House Republicans opening an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, calling for them to “prove their case.” “Do whatever you have to do, and when you get all the stuff you think you got, come to us and let us know. I want to see,” Goldberg said during a discussion with her co-hosts of The View. The show’s token Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin suggested that the impeachment inquiry was not completely unsolicited. “I think there’s impropriety related to Biden’s involvement with Hunter,” Griffin said. “He...

The day after a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed the couple was involved in a “near catastrophic” car chase by paparazzi in New York City on Tuesday night, Whoopi Goldberg expressed a few doubts about their version of events in a panel discussion on The View. “Their spokesperson called it a ‘near-catastrophic car chase,’” Goldberg said, adding, “Others said it wasn’t bad, but I think people in New York know if it was possible to have car chases in New York, we’d all make it to the...

The Anti-Defamation League is calling out Whoopi Goldberg for her "deeply offensive" comments about whether the Holocaust, which involved the murder of 6 million Jewish people, was racially motivated.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times of London, shared during Hanukkah, Goldberg suggested Jews are divided about whether they are a race, religion or both.

"My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race,’ " she recalled.

The president of MSNBC, who has come under fire from black activists in recent weeks for firing anchor Tiffany Cross, reportedly visited the set of ABC’s “The View” and personally pleaded her case to co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin.

Rashida Jones, the head of the left-leaning, Comcast-owned cable news outfit, was seen on the set of the ABC television daytime talk show on Nov. 7 having accompanied her star anchor, Nicolle Wallace, who was set to be interviewed on the air, according to a report.

Whoopi Goldberg returned to “The View” on Monday after a two-week suspension for remarks about the Holocaust, expressing surprise at some people who had reached out to her during her absence.

Goldberg had been criticized for comments Jan. 31 on the daytime talk show where she said the Holocaust was not about race, but rather about man’s inhumanity to others. She apologized, but ABC News President Kim Godwin told her to sit out two weeks.

“Whoopi Goldberg was suspended for two weeks Tuesday as co-host of ‘The View’ because of what the head of ABC News called her ‘wrong and hurtful comments’ about Jews and the Holocaust
The suspension came a day after Goldberg’s comment during a discussion on ‘The View’ that race was not a factor in the Holocaust. Goldberg apologized hours later and again on Tuesday’s morning episode, but the original remark drew condemnation from several prominent Jewish leaders.” AP News

Both sides condemn Goldberg’s comments but are critical of her suspension.

Whoopi Goldberg is being suspended from ABC’s The View.

This isn’t just illiberal, it’s irrational. What Goldberg said was factually incorrect, yes. But so what? Figures on political TV shows say stupid and historically illiterate things every day — including about the Nazis — and nothing much happens to them as a result. What, exactly, was different about this one? Is warmed-over critical theory prohibited now?
