The influential investor’s widely anticipated live stream started 25 minutes late, with pounding drums and pictures of cats.

Suddenly the music gave way to a high-pitched drone as Keith Gill, the stock trader known as ā€œRoaring Kitty,ā€ appeared on camera. Wearing sunglasses and bandages — he never explained why, other than to say they were just for show — he cracked open a beer and spoke to hundreds of thousands of viewers who tuned in for investing advice — and instead got a rambling soliloquy that was light on financials.

Normal trading resumed late Monday morning after the New York Stock Exchange said a technical issue had led to large fluctuations in the prices displayed for certain stocks, including Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway.

A little after 11 a.m. ET, the NYSE said the issue involved the market's main electronic stock price publisher, but that most stocks had since reopened or were in the process of reopening.

The New York Stock Exchange on Monday morning said it resolved a technical problem that resulted in the halt of trading in stocks of several high-profile companies, including Class A shares of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

The shares resumed trading before midday Monday after a lengthy trading halt that appeared to show them changing hands for as low as $185.10, a drop of 99.97%. Experts said any trades actually executed at that level would almost certainly be invalidated.

The New York Stock Exchange experienced a technical glitch impacting a handful of stocks, including Barrick Gold and Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, which was shown to be down nearly 100% before the issue was fixed shortly before noon Eastern time.

"A technical issue with industry-wide price bands published by the CTA SIP triggered halts in a number of stocks listed on the NYSE Group exchanges this morning.  Impacted stocks have since reopened (or are in the process of reopening) and the price bands issue has been resolved," the exchange said.

Shares of GameStop, the embattled video game retailer at the center of the 2021 meme stock frenzy, are surging again after the return of the ā€œRoaring Kitty.ā€

Roaring Kitty, who is legally known as Keith Gill, kicked off another stock market surge this week with his first post on social media in nearly four years. His return sparked a new flood of interest in shares of GameStop, the stock that launched Gill to fame and fortune, along with others favored by an online community of amateur traders.

Shares in video game retailer GameStop surged as much as 118% on Monday after meme stock investor "Roaring Kitty" posted a cryptic image in X, in his first post in the online platform in about three years.

Roaring Kitty, who became one of the key promotors of the 2021 rally in GameStop and in other companies such as movie theater chain AMC, posted a picture of a person who leans forward while gripping a game controller.

A Florida GameStop worker was charged with manslaughter after fatally shooting a suspected shoplifter who allegedly tried to steal PokĆ©mon cards. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night at a strip mall in Pembroke Pines, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, when a man snatched five boxes of PokĆ©mon Scarlet & Violet ā€œultra-premiumā€ cards — a $600 value — and ran for the door, police said. Derrick Guerrero, 33, the assistant manager at the store, confronted the man before he tried to escape, pulled a handgun from his waistband and...

This is the type of simple story I’d love to be able to tell about GameStop: In early 2021, a ragtag group of everyday traders, led by a Massachusetts dad going by — depending on your social media platform — Roaring Kitty or DeepFuckingValue, took on Wall Street titans and won.

• Activist investor and founder of online pet retailer Chewy, Ryan Cohen, will be stepping down as chairman of Gamestop and stepping in as CEO • The change in leadership comes after the company sacked their previous CEO back in June with no immediate replacement • Cohen takes the reigns as Gamestop are still trying to find their place in the market after the frenzy of the short squeeze mania Ryan Cohen is a name that has been associated with Gamestop for a number of years now. Of course anyone...
