A new study out of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention dispels a popular coronavirus-related conspiracy theory that’s been popular among right-wingers. For a while now, anti-vaxxers have pointed to highly publicized incidents of people — particularly, young people — suffering cardiac arrest and concluded that their conditions must have been caused by the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine. Several Fox News hosts, for example, tried to blame the vaccine for LeBron James Jr.'s suffering a cardiac arrest last summer.

LANSING, Mich. — Each year, nearly 360,000 people experience cardiac arrests outside of the hospital, but only 10% survive, according to the American Heart Association.

In an effort to bring this number down, the Michigan House of Representatives heard testimonies surrounding two bills that would require cardiac emergency response in schools and at other related events Tuesday.

In late October 2023, a number of viral online posts and articles claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin had died on Oct. 26, 2023, and a coup was underway in Moscow.

The rumors reportedly spread after a Telegram channel called General SVR claimed Putin had gone into cardiac arrest on Oct. 22, 2023. Other reports claimed Putin had been using a body double since.

On Sunday, Nov. 5, most of the U.S. will dial back their clocks an hour in order to "fall back" to standard time as part of the nation's semi-annual ritual of changing the time.

Several news outlets reported a rumor this week that Russian President Vladimir Putin had suffered a cardiac arrest, collapsing in the presidential bedroom.

The reports added that the 71-year-old Russian leader had to be resuscitated and taken to a special intensive care unit after security heard him falling to the floor.

Heart disease is a leading killer around the world and the top cause of death in the United States. It killed an estimated 17.9 million people in 2019, representing 32% of all deaths globally, according to the World Health Organization.

But not all heart disease is the same. It can affect the blood vessels to the heart or brain, heart muscles and valves, and other areas of the body. Cardiovascular diseases can require long-term treatment, or they can come on suddenly and seriously.

The National Football League postponed Monday night's Bills-Bengals game after a 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin took a hit to the chest and collapsed on the field after making a tackle.

As medics performed CPR, Bills and Bengals players were seen praying and crying on the field.

The Bills said Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and is now in critical condition. The NFL announced the suspension of the game with about six minutes remaining in the first half.

On Monday morning, some were questioning the game itself:
