Sean O'Brien, president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, gave Monday's keynote speech at the Republican National Convention, delivering one of the most anti-big business speeches in recent RNC memory and becoming the first boss in the organization's 121-year history to address the convention.

Workers in Amazon’s labor union voted to join the Teamsters by a huge margin of 98.3 percent as labor activity churns following a period of elevated inflation.

The newly chartered ALU-International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Local 1 will represent the around 5,500 Amazon warehouse workers at the company’s facility in Staten Island, N.Y., the Teamsters said Tuesday.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Teamster drivers who struck the Post-Gazette 18 months ago have agreed to accept severance offers from the newspaper and dissolve their unit. Striking reporters, editors and photographers are disappointed the Teamsters have thrown in the towel but the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh vowed to continue their fight against Post-Gazette management despite decreasing chances of a settlement. "We're fighting for what's right and that's something that's factual and true regardless of anything else," said Natalie Duleba of the Newspaper Guild.

Members of the Teamsters union voted to ratify a new five-year collective bargaining agreement with shipping giant UPS on Tuesday, avoiding a potential strike that loomed over the U.S. economy as the two sides negotiated in recent months.

UPS and the Teamsters union representing about 340,000 workers at the package carrier on Tuesday said they reached a preliminary labor deal that includes raises for both full- and part-time workers and narrowly avoids a potential strike that could have started next week.

It was the latest in a string of labor deals where workers from pilots to aerospace manufacturing employees have pushed for and won higher pay.

The agreement is worth $30 billion, according to Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien.

The president of the Teamsters union said Sunday that he has asked the White House on several occasions to make sure President Biden does not interfere with in his ongoing negations with UPS, even with the possibility of a strike looming at the end of July.

The comments from Teamsters President Sean O’Brien came during an online meeting with union members, where he warned workers to be prepared for a strike.

The Supreme Court hears a labor dispute on Tuesday involving striking truck drivers who walked off the job to try to secure a better contract from their employer, a company that provides premixed concrete for construction projects. Yet, while Glacier Northwest v. International Brotherhood of Teamsters is a fairly unremarkable case, the stakes for unionized workers could be enormous.
