The progressive fundraising platform ActBlue changed its donation policies twice during the 2024 election cycle to make its standards “more lenient” and received donations from foreign sources, a congressional investigation has found.

I’ve been spending some time recently with top Democrats as they think about how to rebuild after the 2024 loss. And in the 20-some years I’ve been covering politics, I have never heard Democrats so confused: about who they are — aside from their opposition to Donald Trump — as well as how and why they lost.

Every single Senate Democrat voted against a measure on Wednesday that would have required life-saving treatment for babies who have been born alive after surviving an abortion. 

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act failed because three-fifths of the Senate majority, or 60 votes, were not acquired. The motion to move the bill forward, a process known as cloture, failed with a vote of 52-47. 

House Republicans on Thursday passed their version of a “born-alive” abortion bill one day after Democrats blocked the Senate version from advancing. 

The bill requires health care practitioners to provide the “same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence” for a child born alive during an attempted abortion as they would during normal childbirth.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order pardoning 23 anti-abortion-rights activists Thursday, one day before he is expected to address thousands of anti-abortion-rights demonstrators at their annual march in Washington.

“Twenty-three people were prosecuted, they should not have been prosecuted,” Trump said at the Oval Office signing ceremony Thursday, noting that “many of them” are elderly. “This is a great honor to sign. They will be very happy.”
