Colombia has denied entry to two U.S. deportation flights, according to officials from the Department of Homeland Security and the Defense Department. The flights, carried out on U.S. military C-17 aircraft, were carrying about 80 Colombian migrants each and had departed from California, the defense official told NBC News. Initially cleared for landing, the flights were grounded after Colombian President Gustavo Petro suddenly revoked all diplomatic clearances for U.S. military and Immigration and Customs Enforcement aircraft, the official said.

They need more planes. The Trump administration began its promised deportations of illegal immigrants this week, but senior Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said Friday that more aircraft are needed to speed up the process. Miller told reporters that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had been hampered in its ability to deport illegal migrants because of a lack of aircraft and the administration is trying to secure enough planes from half a dozen sources, per Bloomberg. ICE raids took place as early as Tuesday and White House...

The Trump administration is in the process of securing enough planes from half a dozen sources to speed up the expulsion of migrants from the the US, Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said Friday.

Miller told reporters that Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, had been hampered in its ability to deport people because of a lack of aircraft. The agency charters planes and conducted hundreds of flights last year, according to experts.

The Trump administration is planning to use military aircraft every day to help carry out what President Donald Trump and his "border czar," Tom Homan, have promised will be the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, Homan told ABC News. In an interview with ABC "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz, Homan said that only days after Trump took office, the U.S. government for the first time ever used military aircraft to transport migrants back to their home country, and it will now be a daily occurrence. According to U.S. officials,...

WASHINGTON, Jan 24 (Reuters) - U.S. military C-17 aircraft began flying out migrants on orders from President Donald Trump on Friday, as the Pentagon prepared to send even more troops to southern border, including from the Army's elite 82nd Airborne division. Trump in his first day in office declared illegal immigration a national emergency, tasking the U.S. military with aiding border security, issuing a broad ban on asylum, and taking steps to restrict citizenship for children born on American soil. His Jan. 20 executive order instructed the Pentagon to send...

The Trump administration claims it has started flying immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally out of the country using military aircraft, a White House spokesperson said Friday. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt shared photos on the social media site X of individuals in handcuffs boarding a military plane. ā€œDeportation flights have begun,ā€ Leavitt said. ā€œPresident Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences.ā€ The use of military planes for deportation is...

The White House early Friday announced that "deportation flights have begun," while releasing photographs of lines of people being led onto military planes to be taken out of the country. "President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Friday on X, while showing two photographs of people boarding the planes. It was not specified when the photographs were taken, or where the deportations were...

Air Force to Conduct Deportation Flights for Thousands of People The Pentagon plans to use U.S. Air Force C-17s and C-130s to deport 5,400 people currently detained by Customs and Border Protection, officials announced Jan. 22, the first act in President Donald Trump’s sweeping promise to crack down on undocumented immigrants and increase border security. And that may not be the end of the Air Force’s role in implementing the new administration’s policy to more tightly control the border. ā€œRight now, we also anticipate that there could be some additional...
