The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to weigh in on the constitutionality of Colorado’s ban on “conversion therapy” – that is, the effort to “convert” someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity. That announcement came as part of a list of orders released on Monday morning from the justices’ private conference last week.

The Supreme Court said on Monday that it would not hear a First Amendment challenge to a Washington State law banning professional counseling services intended to change a minor’s gender identity or sexual orientation.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel A. Alito Jr. and Brett M. Kavanaugh dissented.

A bill to codify Utah’s conversion therapy ban while also clarifying concerning language for therapists has won final legislative approval.

The Utah Senate voted unanimously to pass HB228 on Friday, after the House also voted unanimously to approve it last week. The bill now goes to Gov. Spencer Cox.

McKrae Game, who led the faith-based conversion therapy group Hope for Wholeness in South Carolina for nearly two decades, came out of the closet this summer at 51, The Post and Courier reported Saturday.

“Conversion therapy is not just a lie, but it’s very harmful,” Game told paper. “Because it’s false advertising.”

The revelation came two years after Game was abruptly fired from Hope for Wholeness.
