Authorities say an 85-year-old woman who shot and killed a 39-year-old man last month had been acting in self-defense after he invaded her home, handcuffed her to a chair and threatened to kill her. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Bingham County in Idaho said in a press release that the woman, identified as Christine Jenneiahn, had been “justified” in killing the man, identified as Derek Condon, under Idaho law based on the information they collected during the investigation. The incident occurred on March 13 at approximately 2 a.m....

An 85-year-old woman in rural Idaho is being hailed for her heroic actions after she was the victim of a brutal home invasion. The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said officers were called to the home on March 13 and found a man deceased from gunshot wounds and the elderly homeowner also injured. The home invasion began at about 2 a.m. when 39-year-old Derek Ephriam Condon parked a mile away and then broke into the home through a window with a screwdriver, according to Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolley. He was...

The elderly woman’s disabled son was asleep in her home when the suspect broke in and terrorized her at gunpoint. An elderly woman from Idaho acted in self-defense when she shot and killed a masked home intruder who terrorized her at gunpoint, a prosecutor announced in an incident review this week. Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Jolley said on April 9 that the case of Christine Jenneiahn, 85, is “one of the most heroic acts of self-preservation I have ever heard of.” He added that Ms. Jenneiahn’s “grit, determination, and...

The 85-year-old mother of a disabled son committed a "justifiable homicide" in Idaho when she shot an armed burglar who snuck into her home and threatened to "kill her multiple times," a county prosecutor said. Christine Jenneiahn presented "one of the most heroic acts of self-preservation" that Bingham County prosecutor Ryan Jolley has ever heard of when she shot and killed 39-year-old Derek Condon, according to an incident review written Tuesday. The confrontation occurred around 2 a.m. on March 13, when Condon woke Jenneiahn from her sleep at her home...

An 85-year-old Idaho woman is being hailed as a "hero" for gunning down a home-invasion suspect with a handgun she kept under her pillow after he allegedly handcuffed her to a chair, pistol whipped her and threatened numerous time to kill her, authorities said. Christine Jenneiahn survived the harrowing incident at her home near Blackfoot, Idaho, after being shot multiple times by alleged assailant 39-year-old Derek Condon, who died in her kitchen when the octogenarian turned the tables on him and shot him twice with her .357 Magnum, authorities said....

An 85-year-old Idaho mother fatally shot a masked intruder who held her hostage at gunpoint while her disabled son slept down the hall during a horrifying home invasion. Christine Jenneiahn’s “grit, determination, and will to live” is “what saved her that night,” Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolley said after announcing Wednesday that Jenneiahn justifiably killed Derek Condon, 39, on March 13. “This case presents an easy analysis of self-defense and justifiable homicide,” Jolley wrote in the case review shared by the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. “It also presents one of...
