US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has met with top Israeli opposition leaders as the United States continues to push for a truce deal in Gaza.

Blinken held talks with Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid in Israel on Tuesday before travelling to Jordan to attend an international Gaza aid conference.

In his meeting with Gantz, Blinken blamed Hamas for failure to reach a truce agreement.

US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken announced an additional $404 million in new aid to Palestinians, while attending the ā€œCall for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gazaā€ Conference in Jordan on Tuesday.

This is in addition to ā€œthe more than $1.8 billion in development, economic, and humanitarian aid that the United States has provided since 2021ā€, as ā€œthe largest single country provider of assistance for Palestinians,ā€ Blinken noted.

BLINKEN: ā€˜IF YOU WANT A CEASEFIRE, PRESS HAMAS TO SAY YES’: Even though the ceasefire and hostage release plan announced by President Joe Biden on May 31 was presented as an Israeli proposal, Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Tel Aviv on Monday urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to support it.

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, stated on Monday that he is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for alleged war crimes committed since the Gaza war began on October 7.

He added that he is also seeking warrants against Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Mohammed Deif.

The International Criminal Court's prosecutor said on Monday he had requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his defence chief and three Hamas leaders over alleged war crimes.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan said in a statement issued after over seven months of war in Gaza that he had reasonable grounds to believe that the five men "bear criminal responsibility" for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The International Criminal Court announced Monday it is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on war crime charges in a move widely ripped as a ā€œhistoric disgrace.ā€

The charges are tied to the deadly Oct. 7 terror attacks on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza, the court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, said in a statement Monday.

Warrants are also being sought for Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Hamas terror leader Yahya Sinwar and two other top Hamas officials, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh.
