The NYPD Special Victims detective whose racy music video of her gyrating and twerking on a stripper pole went viral never told anyone she was a cop — and may have a future in modeling, the director said. “She was one of the stars,” director Pitch Perfect said about Bronx Detective Melissa Mercado, who set hearts racing as she danced in a black bra, matching G-string and glitter boots in rapper S-Quire’s video “Doin that.” Before it was learned Mercado was one of New York’s Finest, the detective was already...

The rapper and director behind the music video featuring an NYPD detective twerking in a thong claimed in their first public comments since the song went viral that they had no idea during production that their “star” dancer was a member of New York’s Finest. Pitch Perfect, who directed the raunchy video for rapper S-Quire, told TMZ in a Friday interview that the duo hired Melissa Mercado, a seven-year vet of the NYPD, from a casting agency and insisted the shoot was handled professionally. “None of us were aware of...

An NYPD detective’s racy music video depicting her gyrating and twerking on a stripper pole has gone viral — and has raised a few eyebrows in the department. Detective Melissa Mercado was recorded dancing in a black bra, matching G-string and glitter boots as she made it rain next to a pole in the S-Quire hip-hop video, “Doin That,” last month. It didn’t take long for her fellow cops to realize that Mercado was the dancer. “Is she slow not thinking she would of been recognized???” viewer @SwatzifyTV commented on...

The NYPD has reduced the number of college credits required to join the force, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced Wednesday. Incoming recruits only need 24 college credits, a steep drop from the 60 previously required. At the same time, the department plans to prioritize fitness at the academy and has reinstated a long-standing requirement of completing a 1.5-mile run in less than 14 minutes and 21 seconds. Tisch said at a breakfast sponsored by the Association for a Better New York that the changes will hopefully stem the NYPD’s current...
