White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is scheduled to appear for an interview on "The View" on Tuesday, but has not held a press conference since July 15.

"The View" revealed on Monday that Jean-Pierre would be joining the hosts for her first interview since President Biden announced he would be withdrawing from the presidential race. It's unlikely to be a hostile environment, as all the hosts are openly hostile to former President Trump and frequently praise the Biden administration.

MSNBC will not air “Morning Joe,” its celebrated politics roundtable program, on Monday, opting to instead air continued breaking news coverage of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

The progressive news network confirmed the decision to preempt its influential and top-rated morning show after a CNN inquiry Sunday evening. The network said the show will resume airing Tuesday.

MSNBC's popular morning show "Morning Joe" did not air Monday, the same day the 2024 Republican National Convention commences, sparking speculations over whether the decision has anything to do with the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

A network spokesperson told USA TODAY the show, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, was taken off-air because the channel has stayed in rolling breaking news coverage since the shooting broke out Saturday evening.

MSNBC pulled its flagship AM program "Morning Joe" from airing on Monday in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Viewers who tuned in expecting to see the staunchly anti-Trump program, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, were greeted instead by continued NBC News special reporting on the attempt on Trump's life on Saturday. A spokesperson said "Morning Joe" will resume airing on Tuesday.

June 4 (Reuters) - Paramount Global's (PARA.O), opens new tab top executives on Tuesday laid out a sweeping restructuring plan that includes $500 million in annualized cost cuts, potential asset sales and a possible joint venture or other partnerships for its Paramount+ streaming service.

Like other media companies, Paramount's fortunes has waned as the traditional television business declined while the streaming video service it launched to capture audiences has yet to recover lost revenue.

In an unusual move, the five major broadcast and cable news networks have prepared a joint open letter that urges President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump to participate in televised debates ahead of Election Day, according to two people with direct knowledge of their plans.

The letter — endorsed by ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News — thrusts into public view a question that has swirled within media and political circles: whether the presidential debates, one of the nation’s last remaining mass civic rituals in a polarized age, will occur this year at all.

Is 2024 about to become the new 1972?

Richard Nixon and George McGovern’s battle for the White House 52 years ago was the last time the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates did not directly debate.

With President Joe Biden refusing to say whether or not he will get on a stage with Donald Trump this year, the broadcast networks and cable newsers have banded together to try to convince the incumbent and his predecessor to “publicly commit” to debates.

The pressure is building on President Joe Biden to agree to debate Donald Trump as the former president called for earlier engagements and the television networks are urging the candidates to hit the stage.

'While the Commission on Presidential Debates has already announced three presidential debates and a vice-presidential debate to occur later this year, we are in favor of these debates beginning much earlier,' Trump co-campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita sent Thursday to The Commission on Presidential Debates.

CNN has shaken up its struggling lineup once again, with Jim Acosta moving to weekdays and the New York-based morning production team being disbanded.

The long-troubled "CNN This Morning," which was the brainchild of since-fired CEO Chris Licht, will now be hosted by Kasie Hunt at 5-7 a.m. ET, with current anchors Poppy Harlow and Phil Mattingly being pushed aside. CNN says Harlow and Mattingly are being considered for other roles at the network that "showcase their talents and work well for them."

MSNBC announced on Thursday that it is canceling the show of outspoken journalist Mehdi Hasan as part of a weekend program overhaul, sparking backlash among supporters of the tough interviewer known lately for challenging the mainstream media’s coverage of Gaza.

Network President Rashida Jones announced to staff in a memo Thursday morning that Hasan, whose program “The Mehdi Hasan Show” typically aired Sundays at 8 p.m. and Tuesdays on streaming service Peacock, will now become an on-camera analyst and fill-in host. The move was first reported by Semafor.
