In recognizing Children's Mental Health Week, the Wisconsin Office of Children's Mental Health has recommendations and resources inspired by the state's high school students. Young people came together April 12 at the Mental Wellness Student Leadership Summit hosted by the Office of Children's Mental Health, to discuss their mental health needs.

Wisconsin Democrats on Thursday announced a joint effort with national party leaders they are calling the largest midterm coordinated campaign in state history, with the goal of reelecting Gov. Tony Evers and defeating Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.

The effort dubbed Forward for Wisconsin is a partnership that includes the state and national Democratic parties, Evers’ campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Democrats promised to target rural parts of the state, which have been trending toward Republicans in recent elections.

Theodore Keener said he was “really jolted” after a shooting earlier this month not far from his house in Racine, Wisconsin, left five people injured and the shooter dead.

“It’s just a major problem here. It’s become ridiculous, and we need a governor who will do something about it,” said Keener, a self-described independent, who voted for Republican Scott Walker in the 2018 gubernatorial race and President Joe Biden in 2020.

Recently, Wisconsin governor Tony Evers vetoed a bill that would have expanded access to a statewide school-choice program that funds students instead of systems. The governor’s veto protects the K–12 public-school monopoly at the expense of families — and it comes at the tail end of a year in which the public sector repeatedly failed to provide students with adequate in-person services.

President Donald Trump declared Monday that he would move ahead with a planned trip to Kenosha, Wis., in defiance of Gov. Tony Evers’ request that he stay away from the state amid raw tensions surrounding protests against racial injustice and police brutality.

“If I didn’t INSIST on having the National Guard activate and go into Kenosha, Wisconsin, there would be no Kenosha right now,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Also, there would have been great death and injury. I want to thank Law Enforcement and the National Guard. I will see you on Tuesday!”

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) urged President Trump on Sunday to "reconsider" his plans to visit Kenosha, Wis., which has been rocked by unrest for the past several nights following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police.

In a letter to the White House shared by Evers's office Sunday afternoon, the governor warned that Trump's presence could "hinder" the state's attempts to heal after a video of Kenosha police shooting Blake seven times in the back sparked a week of protests that in some cases descended into violence.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said President Trump's presence in his state may prevent healing from a wave of civil unrest.

In a letter made public Sunday, Evers pleaded with Trump to reconsider a planned trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Tuesday. Among his reasons, the Democratic governor said the visit may worsen social divisions and require massive security resources that should be focused on protecting Kenosha citizens.

President Trump is not welcome in Wisconsin, at least not if you're asking Gov. Tony Evers.

Evers, a Democrat who has been critical of Trump, urged the president to reconsider traveling on Tuesday to Kenosha, where recent protests against police brutality have exploded into deadly riots in recent days.
