Donald Trump is the President of the United States, having won the 2024 presidential election as a Republican. See his public schedule here.

Trump announced his third consecutive presidential run on November 16, 2022.

Trump served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021 after defeating Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016. He ran for reelection in 2020, but was defeated by Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

In the aftermath of the 2020 election, Trump claimed the election results were fraudulent. Attempts to overturn the results through lawsuits in multiple states were unsuccessful.

President Trump spoke on Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal and the nuclear talks with Iran, according to Israeli and U.S. officials.

Why it matters: The phone call took place amid a stalemate in the Gaza negotiations after another failed attempt last week by the U.S. and Egypt to put forward a bridging proposal both sides could accept.

Protesters participated in another grassroots, widespread action against the Trump administration on Saturday.

Why it matters: The 50501 movement takes momentum from recent protests to encourage Americans to become each other's "social support web" as the administration's policies target marginalized communities.

The Trump administration has grown so furious with Harvard University after a week of an escalating dispute between the two sides that it is planning to pull an additional $1 billion of the school’s funding for health research, according to people familiar with the matter.

Trump administration officials, the people said, thought the long list of demands they sent Harvard last Friday was a confidential starting point for negotiations.

Welcome to The Logoff: Today I’m focusing on a showdown between the administration and the courts over a wrongful deportation, a critical test of the judicial branch’s ability to check Donald Trump’s power.

What’s the latest? Justice Department lawyers told a federal judge on Sunday that they were not required to bring back a man who was wrongfully sent to El Salvador. And at a White House visit today, El Salvador’s president made clear that he’s not sending the man back either.

Greetings and welcome to this week’s midair performance of the Carnival of Fools! Like a prestige subscription-service drama, our story resumes from a potent cliff-hanger: Last week, Donald Trump had invoked the laws of cartoon physics as he strapped an ACME-brand tariff regime onto America’s economy and sent it hurtling off a cliff.

The White House released on Sunday the results of President Donald Trump’s first annual physical examination since retaking office, revealing he is in “excellent cognitive and physical health” and “fully fit” to serve.

Trump, 78, took the physical exam on Friday at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. The comprehensive exam, which tested the president on every function including cognitive capability, lasted five hours.

Shower lovers, rejoice! Donald Trump’s latest executive order is for you.

While the president has signed a flurry of executive actions beginning just hours after he was sworn in on Inauguration Day dealing with major issues like border security, radical gender ideology, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices, there have been some smaller – though no less impactful – policy changes as well.

President Donald Trump's nonsensical "Liberation Day" tariffs amount to the largest tax hike on Americans since 1982, and will end up costing every American household thousands of dollars in an effort to solve global trade deficits that experts say are not a problem in the first place.

Multiple studies were released this week that show just how costly Trump's tariffs will be for Americans.

President Trump announced a series of agreements with five major law firms Friday, signing deals for some $600 million in pro bono work as the Trump administration continues its pressure campaign on the legal profession.

Kirkland & Ellis, Allen Overy Shearman Sterling, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, and Latham & Watkins all agreed to perform $125 million each in pro bono legal work — the highest figure seen yet in any of the agreements brokered by Trump with various legal firms.

The progressive hero created the predicate for the Trump presidency.

Progressives have long pined for another FDR. Here in the first couple of months of 2025, they’ve gotten one.

President Trump’s mad opening dash is like nothing we’ve seen since Franklin Roosevelt’s historic first 100 days.

It’s a cliché to say that we live in an unprecedented era, but it’s not the first time we’ve had a frenetic, action-oriented president who cares more about the results than the rules and, oh yeah, is interested in serving more than two terms in office.
