Is Tim Walz the Midwestern Dad Democrats Need?

I’ve watched a lot of presidential campaigns, and I can’t remember one in which the contest for the Democratic vice-presidential nomination has played out quite so publicly. And that’s allowed for some voices and figures to break through who you might not have imagined before. Foremost among them is Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, because of one interview on “Morning Joe,” saying of Donald Trump and JD Vance, “These guys are just weird.”

Tim Walz Is a Regular Guy. That’s Exactly What Harris Needs.

Vice President Kamala Harris named Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, bringing to the ticket a skilled executive with folksy charm who has shown he isn't afraid to embrace policies that lean on the government’s ability to improve people’s lives.

Walz, 60, is, in many ways, the perfect counterbalance to Harris. He brings deep experience as a governor, House contacts from his six terms as a congressman, and an everyman back story that made him stand out amid the usual elite lawyer candidates.

Kamala Harris bows to the radicals by picking lefty Tim Walz as her running mate

Wow: Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the most left-wing of her VP options, in the process passing over the clear best choice, Gov. Josh Shapiro of swing-state Pennsylvania — plainly because she didn’t dare cross the left by tapping a Jew.

This is an utterly damning sign of how she’d govern — well to the left of Joe Biden, and even more deceptive.

Walz, after all, plays moderate but acts radical.

He slammed DEI mandates on Minnesota soon after taking over in 2018.

Kamala Harris introduces Tim Walz: Veteran, teacher, lawmaker

(NewsNation) — Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate in the 2024 election, the current vice president announced Tuesday.

“I am proud to announce that I’ve asked @walzforgovernor to be my running mate,” Harris posted to Instagram. “One of the things that stood out to me about Tim is how his convictions on fighting for middle-class families run deep. It’s personal.”

Cori Bush Loses Missouri Dem House Primary against Pro-Israel Opponent

Representative Cori Bush (D., Mo.), the progressive “Squad” member who recently stopped short of calling Hamas a terrorist organization, lost a competitive House primary bid Tuesday night against St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell, who positioned himself as a pro-Israel alternative during the race.

The Associated Press called Bell’s primary victory at 11 p.m. EDT. He will now vie for Bush’s place in the House come November, facing the winner of Tuesday’s GOP primary in a district that President Joe Biden won by more than 60 points in 2020.

Rep. Cori Bush Ousted By AIPAC-Backed Primary Challenger

Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) lost her Democratic primary on Tuesday, shrinking the ranks of the House’s left-wing “Squad” and delivering another major victory to the pro-Israel and business-friendly groups that backed her challenger.

Wesley Bell, the St. Louis County prosecutor, defeated Bush. Since Missouri’s 1st Congressional District, which includes all of St. Louis and many of its northern and western suburbs, is overwhelmingly Democratic, Bell is all but assured of a seat in Congress come November.

'Squad' member Cori Bush loses congressional primary

Democratic congresswoman and "Squad" member Cori Bush has lost her primary race in Missouri, according to US media projections.

Wesley Bell, a St Louis prosecutor, will instead be the party's candidate in the state's first congressional district this November.

Ms Bush came to prominence as an organiser in the Black Lives Matter movement and, after taking office in 2021, as one of the "Squad" of Democratic members of the House known for supporting progressive causes.
