PBS and NPR each faced the difficulty on Wednesday night of covering their own bosses taking tough questions from Republicans at the Capitol in a hearing on Wednesday. PBS actually aired a Republican citing us -- just as a "conservative media watchdog group." NPR didn't want to seriously engage in anything.

Fox News personalities’ new argument in support of their former colleagues who discussed pending military strikes on an unsecured text chain is that those former colleagues — now America’s top military, national security, and intelligence officials — are easy to deceive.

In one of those moments that one might have missed live because it was so out-of-left-field, CNN host Laura Coates made a comment Wednesday during Kasie Hunt’s new show The Arena linking President Donald Trump’s latest back-and-forth with the judiciary over illegal immigrant deportation flights to President Andrew Jackson’s displacement of Native Americans starting in the 1830s that became known as the Trail of Tears.

Trans woman activist Dylan Mulvaney did a happy-go-lucky softball interview tour to promote the book Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer. The “mainstream” media are out of the mainstream on trans issues, and their extreme fawning and flattery only underlines it.

On CBS Mornings, correspondent Natalie Morales sounded like a supporter: “What do you want people to see and know about you?” Mulvaney said, “I would ask them to please not make it harder for us…I am now realizing that this is life or death, you know, for a lot of people.”

As Americans increasingly get their news from online shows and streamers, the influence of this media ecosystem becomes more prominent — and Media Matters has found that the most popular of this content is overwhelmingly right-leaning.

Some academic institutions are finally facing a long-overdue reckoning after refusing to enforce the law (and their own policies) in the face of systemic abuses and lawlessness from pro-Hamas mobs.  Jewish students have been threatened, attacked, harassed, and even prevented from attending classes or walking freely on their own campuses.  Many of these episodes arguably or incontrovertibly constitute civil rights violations, on top of all the other chaos and dysfunction.

President Donald Trump’s propaganda outlets are struggling to articulate a clear message as his sclerotic rollout of tariffs trigger widespread economic turbulence. 

U.S. stock markets tumbled on Monday after Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that he could not rule out the possibility of a recession. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 both suffered their worst day of the year, losing more than 2%, while the NASDAQ Composite fell 4%, its worst day since September 2022.

The daily DOGE drumbeat continues apace, and the strategy behind the “legacy” media’s reporting is now plainly apparent. They want to drive a wedge between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
