Columbia law students pleaded with the law school's administration to cancel all final exams and pass all students for the work they did the past semester after they were "irrevocably shaken" by arrests at the Gaza Camp protest this week.  

"As the Administrative Board of student editors of the Columbia Law Review, we urge the Law School to cancel exams and give all students passing grades for their work throughout the semester," the student board said in a press release.  

The first documented appearance of a sworn police officer patrolling a college campus was in 1894 at Yale University.

At Columbia University, tensions between the administration and students protesting over Israel's war in Gaza have reached the point that scores of New York City police marched onto campus to clear an encampment and arrest demonstrators who had commandeered a classroom building.

It was the second time in as many weeks that the administration has called on police to control the protests. Students have been suspended, and threatened with expulsion. Police are now stationed around-the-clock on campus.

College campuses across the United States have seen massive upheaval due to pro-Palestinian protests.

Columbia University, the school with likely the most high-profile protest encampment, was forced to navigate difficult circumstances with the nation watching. The school has been criticized by people on both sides of the issue, and many other colleges now share the spotlight.

Democratic voters are increasingly supportive of abortion rights, and increasingly motivated by the issue, according to a new report from the Public Religion Research Institute.

The survey found that a growing number of Democrats point to abortion as a top voting issue since the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision, which allowed abortion restrictions to take effect around the country.

The  New York City Police Department confirmed tonight that a well known professional agitator, also known as a protest consultant has been identified at Columbia University.

Amidst a sea of youg college students at the protest, breaking into a building and denying Jewish students access to the campus, was an eldery woman taunting the protesters and inciting them.

Police identified the woman as Lisa Fithian. She credits herself with ‘shutting down the CIA’, occupying  Wall Street, and other major protests in recent American history.

Among the throng of Columbia University student protesters gathered outside Hamilton Hall on campus early Tuesday morning was a gray-haired woman in her 60s.

In a video captured by The New York Times, the protesters can be seen trying to push their way toward the building as the woman — decades older than the crowd — pleads with two young counterprotesters trying to block them from barricading the occupied building.

A notorious professional protester with past ties to multiple controversial anti-Israel efforts was spotted among the rioters who broke into a Columbia University building and occupied it this week, according to police.

Lisa Fithian, 63, was captured in footage taken outside Hamilton Hall — an academic building on the Ivy League’s Morningside Heights campus that protesters, some of them masked, stormed the around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police moved into the pro-Palestinian encampment at UCLA Thursday morning, where they faced intense resistance and made dozens of arrests.

Officers wearing body armor, helmets and face shields methodically pulled apart the barricade as protesters tried to hold together the assemblage of plywood and metal fencing. Flares arced overhead, igniting with piercing blasts, and smoke filled the air from fire extinguishers that demonstrators sprayed at the police.

As counterprotesters tore at barricades, threw fireworks, and beat and pepper sprayed pro-Palestinian protesters at UCLA overnight Tuesday, no law enforcement officers took action to stop the violence or made any arrests. In stark contrast, by tonight, UC Police declared that anyone who remains in the “unlawful” encampment would be arrested. 

The reason for such a mixed response from law enforcement: haphazard adherence to UC President Michael Drake’s 2021 UC Campus Safety Plan.
