Aaliyah Boston had eight points, 14 rebounds and two blocks for the Gamecocks (35-0), the top overall tournament seed and the headliner in the Greenville 1 Region. BOSTON -- Garnet Hathaway scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period and the NHL-best Boston Bruins wrapped up first place in the Atlantic Division with their sixth straight victory, 2-1 over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The win was the Bruins' 56th and moves them one behind the club record set in 1970-71. It also keeps them on pace to set the NHL record for victories in a regular season with 10 games left. The Detroit Red Wings won 62 in 1995-96 and Tampa Bay matched it...

An outraged Rev. Al Sharpton blasted former President Donald Trump for his baseball-bat wielding social media post aimed at Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Sharpton, speaking Saturday at his Harlem headquarters, defended Bragg as an impartial prosecutor who previously opted not to impanel a grand jury to investigate the one-time resident of Trump Tower. “For Trump not to denounce violence but in fact poses with a bat toward the guy investigating him, and then puts in writing that there would be death and destruction, those of us in this community...

On Saturday, Pope Francis updated the Catholic Church’s sexual abuse decree, which was originally put forth in 2019 to stop abuse caused by church leaders. The biggest change is that lay leaders as well as senior clergy can now be held responsible under the decree. While extending sexual abuse protection to adult victims who lack mental capacity and can be taken advantage of, the decree also adds new protections for those who report the abuse, reported the Catholic News Agency. The 2019 version of the decree instructed dioceses to create...

An explosion at a chocolate factory in Pennsylvania on Friday killed two people and left nine missing.

Several other people were injured by the explosion at the R.M. Palmer Co. plant, said West Reading Borough Police Department Chief of Police Wayne Holben, who did not confirm the exact number of injured.

The explosion just before 5pm was all caught on camera. Video footage saw a plume of thick, black smoke into the air, destroying one building and damaging a neighboring building that included apartments.

Minnesota lawmakers on Thursday advanced legislation that would establish the state as a "trans refuge" for children who are seeking transgender medical procedures but who may be denied "gender-affirming care" in other states. In a party-line 68-62 vote, the Minnesota House passed HF 146, which had been introduced by Rep. Leigh Finke of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. Finke is the state's first transgender lawmaker.

Human remains found this week in a Stoughton cemetery — notably, not inside a coffin — are under investigation by law enforcement, news outlets reported. The remains were discovered by workers as they were digging a new grave at Dry Pond Cemetery on Wednesday. They contacted Stoughton police. The remains were then carefully excavated and taken to the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston on Friday, WBZ reported. The discovery was unusual because the remains were not contained in a coffin, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said,...

This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate Two people found dead in a railroad car in south Texas were Honduran men, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in a statement Saturday, indicating it was investigating the case as possible human smuggling. “We will continue to address the serious public safety threat posed by human smuggling organizations and their reckless disregard for the health and safety of those smuggled,” department spokesperson Nina Pruneda said in the statement. Pruneda declined to comment beyond the statement, which said...
