The White House has instructed former officials Hope Hicks and Annie Donaldson not to turn over certain documents to the House Judiciary Committee.
House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) had subpoenaed the former White House officials for documents and testimony last month.
CNN first reported that the White House had instructed them not to turn over documents stemming from their time at the White House sought by the subpoena. A committee source familiar with the matter confirmed the development to The Hill.
